Geoff Yang reposted thisRecent headlines cite studies showing that 25–40% of weight lost on GLP-1 receptor agonists comes from lean body mass. Those findings deserve context. Much of the data comes from studies where no effort was made to preserve muscle — no resistance training protocols, no protein optimization, no body composition monitoring. When we look at relative changes, patients on these medications are losing significantly more fat than lean muscle mass, and functional performance actually improves. Here's what changed my mind: * 80% of people who have a heart attack were told their cholesterol was fine. Not borderline. Fine. * 88 million Americans have prediabetes right now. 84% of them have absolutely no idea. And the most unsettling part? Geoff Yang posted thisStop the Slide I hear the same concern from successful people (founders, CEO's, investors, heads of state) almost every week. Not in public. In private conversations. It usually sounds like this: “My energy isn’t what it used to be.” “I’m working out, but my body composition isn’t improving.” “My bloodwork is trending the wrong direction.” “I don’t feel as sharp as I used to.” “My knee / back / shoulder is limiting what I want to do.” And the most common one: “I know I should prioritize my health… but maybe when things slow down in a few months.” Here’s the reality. In your 40s, 50s and 60s, physiological reserves often start eroding quietly—long before obvious symptoms appear. High-performing people are especially good at normalizing it. We call it “getting older.” But aging isn’t a sentence. It’s a signal. The Olympic Games were made for people like me: inspiring and compelling narratives, heart pulling emotions, enormous national pride filling moments, and the joy of pure sport. We root for our teams to succeed but not for others to fail. Sportsmanship and competition can peacefully co-exist and it does every two years. Watching the American flag raise to the top and singing our national anthem is unlike any other emotion I’ve experienced. Get ready LA28, the games come to the US. We’ve got next!

Starting with the U.S. team in Milan Cortina, financier Ross Stevens will give each Olympic & Paralympic athlete $200,000 after their athletic careers end.
