I’m proud to share that applications are open for the Reconstruct Thriving Youth Challenge — a $1 million initiative launched by our Belmont Innovation Labs to find, fund and scale solutions for young people as they transition from foster care to adulthood.  The complex challenges these men and women face can derail their greatest intentions and ambitions, leading to 70-80% of them experiencing homelessness, addiction, incarceration or trafficking within just three years. Through this venture philanthropy model, we’re looking to invest in and support solutions focused on consistent adult relationships, reliable housing and accessible mental health care. Just My Thoughts In August, I had the privilege of sharing my leadership journey at the Strategic Women in Leadership masterclass, organized by #LaineHR, which focused on "Equipping Women to Lead, Influence, and Innovate for a Sustainable Africa." Effective leadership requires boldness, wisdom, and presence. To aspiring young professionals, I offer this counsel: as you strive for excellence, prioritize building "Executive Presence." Executive presence is about projecting confidence, credibility, and competence to others. Here are my suggestions: ~ Enhance your professional image and brand ~ Develop gravitas ~ Cultivate emotional intelligence ~ Maintain a positive professional visibility These principles have guided my own journey and continue to inspire me. Although individuals may have unique approaches, we can all learn from one another and adapt. #leadership #employeeproductivity #hr

📖 New Peer-Reviewed Publication ✨ I’m pleased to share my latest peer-reviewed article, “Cultivating Liberatory Leadership: A Black Feminist Model for Mentorship in Schools,” published in The Chronicle of Mentoring & Coaching (Vol. 9, No. 3), a publication of The Mentoring Institute at The University of New Mexico. Drawing on three years of mixed-methods data from the #AIELOC Aspiring Leaders of Color Mentorship Program, the study demonstrates that liberatory, identity-affirming mentorship, grounded in the Black Feminist Leadership Model™ (BFLM™), strengthens leadership confidence, career clarity, and a sense of belonging among educators of color. Investing in #FoundationalLearning is one of the smartest moves a government can make. When children master foundational reading and math skills, the gains quickly extend to entire communities – boosting community development and fueling national economic growth. Evidence shows returns of about $30 for every $1 invested, but only when programs are well designed and implemented so children are actually learning.     That’s why the new literacy report endorsed by the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel (GEEAP) matters.
