Dan Barnett shared this“How should I measure my employees’ success?” Each year, employers embark on annual job performance reviews, which can lead to tension. Employers should know that workplace culture will determine how honest your employees are with their feedback and whether or not they decide to seek employment elsewhere after the review. So what can you do to ensure annual reviews are a pleasant experience with minimal turnover? There are a few specific metrics you should consider as an employer: productivity, willingness to learn and participate in the organization, key performance indicators, maybe sales goals and the employee’s general comradery. But gauging those metrics is only a portion of the annual review. What’s important is the conversation that occurs during that time. Dan Barnett shared thisSo much has changed in the last few years. As a result, we have begun to rethink how our personal and professional lives coexist. For example, what is the best way to motivate your employees? The answer may vary depending on who you ask. Understanding how to motivate your employees doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, I’ve identified four key projects you can implement to get the wheels turning: 📈 1. Build a helpful management team. Review your current team's qualities and help implement practices to boost areas that are lacking. ☕️ 2. Develop an incentive program. Incentive programs help encourage employees to complete a task in exchange for a reward. A great example of this would be purchasing bagels and coffee for the office if a quarterly sales goal is met. 👣 3. Offer learning and development opportunities. Many employees are motivated by their own professional goals and future. Provide a clear blueprint that outlines the steps of growth in your company. 🧑💻 4. Offer flexibility and simple perks. Many employees will benefit from having flexible schedules and appreciate simple perks. Allowing people to work from home (#WFH) or supplying snacks for the office can increase happiness and productivity. Understanding and acknowledging these motivations is the key to lasting success. Dan Barnett shared thisThe national turnover rate for today’s employees is 57.3%. That’s 88% higher than it was in 2010. In a labor market where they have the upper hand, employees are leaving their jobs at an elevated rate—and many employers are left wondering why. Preventing employee turnover doesn’t have to be difficult; in many situations, it’s a case of asking a few simple questions before it’s too late: “Do you feel respected by your coworkers? Appreciated by your boss?” “Do you feel like you have a purpose here?” “Did we fulfill our onboarding obligations?” But understanding the causes of employee turnover is only half the battle. The next step in keeping your staff in place is knowing what your organization can do to better retain its employees. Dan Barnett shared this“Where did all the employees go?” Questions like these have become commonplace as the US labor market continues to change—and the answers have been reduced to little more than “No one wants to work.” But is there any truth behind them? In short: Not really. In fact, the idea of no one wanting to work is somewhat of a generational myth. There are records of this complaint dating back to 1894. And while it’s true that gig work and remote jobs are growing in popularity, the key to filling your open positions is flexibility. As Suzanne Lucas wrote in a recent Inc. ADA compliance is an important consideration for any manager of a workplace with over 15 employees, and here’s why: Failure to comply with these regulations can create legal trouble for you and unnecessary difficulties for employees with disabilities. More than 60 million adults in the United States have some form of disability, many of which are not readily visible. Inaction is not excusable when it comes to making your workplace a safe, accessible, and navigable place for those with any type of disability. And, now that the launch date is finally here, I’m able to take a step back to reflect on what this transition means for our team. Since I made the initial decision to rebrand I’ve only grown more inspired by the tenacity of the staffing industry. ADM McCoy toured our facilities, addressed our team and led an open Q&A, sharing insights from his distinguished naval and shipbuilding career. Our role in U.S. shipbuilding is critical. The parts we manufacture directly support the U.S. Navy’s mission and help keep sailors safe at sea. Our sailors should never be in a fair fight and every improvement we make by working faster, smarter, and more efficiently strengthens that advantage. There is a real need for therapy dog teams, especially in healthcare and community settings. Dogs who are comfortable in these environments, enjoy being social, and demonstrate calm behavior and good manners can have a powerful impact through simple presence and connection.
