David Zhou liked thisDavid Zhou liked thisTo validate the realism of our simulator, we create digital twins that perfectly mirror all elements of reality—from vehicle and pedestrian behaviors to weather conditions and infrastructure like cones, traffic lights, and construction zones. This simulation-first approach allows us to safely test critical edge cases thousands of times before deployment, dramatically accelerating our path to market while maintaining the highest safety standards. We’re solving challenges that traditional road testing might encounter only once in millions of miles, reducing costs and creating a more scalable, reliable autonomous solution for our customers.

David Zhou liked thisDavid Zhou liked thisSoftware is the soul of the machine, and semiconductors run the world. Today, during a keynote at Hot Chips Symposium, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger introduced a new foundry model for a new era of chipmaking. The Systems Foundry model is an effort to reboot the current foundry approach that enabled an explosion of ecosystem innovation at the wafer level. The model is built from four components: the traditional wafer aspect – still driven by Moore's Law – plus packaging, chiplet standards and software. Advanced packaging allows us to build more complex systems out of smaller functions to deliver customized heterogenous solutions. Chiplet standards enable a platform transformation around these advanced packaging technologies. And software ties it all together; to bring the systems approach to life, we must lead with a software-first mindset at every layer. As the industry transitions from a “system on chip” to a “system of chips,” we need to optimize everything from the system and software architecture to how we do manufacturing and test. Intel Foundry Services (IFS) is leading the Systems Foundry transformation by offering secure supply, open platforms, and composable solutions through chips, packaging, and system software. A Systems Foundry approach will facilitate holistic solutions to overcome fundamental limits and meet the industry's insatiable demand for more semiconductors. David Zhou liked thisDavid Zhou liked thisI was just reminded by Matt Wood that my first day at Amazon Web Services (AWS) was on Nov 1st, 2013. Exactly 7 years ago. Nov 1st 2013... jeez! I was young! I had just given up a great job with great responsibilities and great relationships, to join Amazon. Tommy Eriksson told me “Dan, I support you, and you can come back home anytime you want”. I’ve had 2 homes since then. For the first 1.7 years I was in Cape Town. We had so much fun building Big Data expertise while trying to figure out what that Big Data thing was about. I made lifelong friends. I made family. Then I moved to NYC. And if you’ve heard #MachineLearning or #ArtificialIntelligence in the last 4+ years I was probably the one singing that at you. In NYC (and Seattle, and Califórnia, and around...) I made life-long friends; I made family. Neils Bohr said “things are hard to predict, especially the future”. I couldn’t have predicted this much fun; I’m grateful for every life code update that goes day = day + 1. All I can say is, take the leap! #TakeTheLeap #DayOne #TrustTheProcess

EV maker Lucid, along with ride-hailing platform Uber and autonomous driving company Nuro, are working together to launch a new robotaxi program using Lucid’s Gravity SUV. The project was officially revealed at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026) and will feature an in-cabin experience that has been designed entirely by Uber. It is worth noting that the partnership was first announced in 2025 and includes plans to eventually deploy more than 20,000 Lucid vehicles equipped with Nuro’s self-driving technology, all owned and operated by Uber. Importantly, the companies have already begun testing robotaxis in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a test fleet of more than 100 vehicles. In addition, the Gravity SUVs are equipped with advanced sensors, such as high-resolution cameras, solid-state LiDAR, and radar, which provide the vehicles with full 360-degree awareness. The robotaxis also come with a specially designed roof-mounted “halo” that improves sensor visibility and uses LED displays to help riders identify their vehicle and track trip status from pickup to drop-off. Headed to AI Infra Summit in Santa Clara, Sept. 15–17. I’m especially interested in meeting the people working where AI meets the physical world — product engineering, data-center infrastructure, robotics, manufacturing, supplier engineering, and strategic sourcing. At FES, we’re building Digital FAE™ agents that capture the application knowledge buried inside veteran engineers and suppliers, then make it usable at the point of design — from prints and part matching to warnings, samples, and faster engineering decisions. The part I’m most interested in discussing at the show: Where are engineers still losing time because the answer lives in one person’s head, one supplier’s inbox, or 400 pages of catalogs? If you’re working on AI factories, physical AI, product engineering, robotics, infrastructure, or supplier digitization, I’d enjoy comparing notes while we’re there. #AIInfraSummit #PhysicalAI #EngineeringAI #Manufacturing #DataCenters #Robotics #DigitalFAE
