David Silver shared thishttps://lnkd.in/dx7HgYdh I shared this in case I know a few peeps that Shay doesn't. Please consider sending a donation to this family. Amazing story below.David Silver shared thisLast night I witnessed a tragedy. Something terrible happened, right here. I was walking down the street in Hollywood, looking for a spot to eat.. when I heard a crash. I turn the corner & see an SUVs front end smashed into this tree, tables flown, & multiple victims laying on the ground. ❗️WARNING❗️(this is where it gets graphic) I approach the scene & hear a woman SCREAMING bloody murder. I get closer and notice her ankles were severed, & her husband was hanging onto her feet as they dangled from her legs, only still connected through her Achilles’ tendons. My heart broke for this couple as I saw this man helplessly attempt to put his wife back together. I could witness my own brain blurring out the image of her legs, but seeing everything else crystal clear. Like my mind was trying to protect me from the trauma. But I saw it… I saw it. I watch a lot of graphic shows. NOTHING compares to witnessing something like this in person. Nothing. I felt my body reject the entire image of what was going on, & a voice telling me to just walk away. But I knew I had to be there for a reason. EMTs arrived quickly, thank God. So, why was I here? What can I do? It suddenly hit me that I do have one superpower, one we all possess, but few exercise daily. The power of prayer. I closed my eyes & held out my hands, asking God to put a protective ring of energy around this woman, her husband, and all other victims at the scene who were affected by this crash. I prayed for their recovery & their peace. I prayed that whatever angels were closeby come nurture this scene, and give these poor souls the love & strength they were needing to suddenly take on this life-changing, traumatic experience. I let my mind go during prayer. I surrender to whatever messages come up. That’s when it became clear to me… I wasn’t just there to pray for the victims. I was put there to pray for the driver. The woman who hit her stood crying, “What have I done!? I’m sorry!” We’re so quick in society to put everything into a black & white - victim vs. perpetrator conclusion. Which of course has its place. But I could feel the woman who hit her was just as damaged as the woman on the ground, despite still having her limbs. Hurt people hurt people, whether intentional or not. We all deserve love. I finished my prayer & left. Needless to say- no longer hungry for dinner. I went to the nearest field, took off my shoes, and grounded my bare feet into the earth. I thanked God with all my might that I have the ability to stand on two feet, and tears of gratitude fell down my face. I’m healthy. I can run. I can dance. I am free. In the blink of an eye, your whole life can be turned upside down. Everyday I pray, & every prayer I ask for something. Today, I ask for nothing. Just thank God… from the bottom of my heart… for my feet. ❤️ May the victims find peace & recovery. ❗️UPDATE ON STORY❗️She survived! Donate to help w/ her recovery here: https://rb.gy/fvfxcu

Most people don’t struggle with FTTH because they’re unserious. They struggle because no one ever taught them how it really works on site. After working across every stage of large-scale fiber deployment from planning and survey to home activation I’ve seen the same mistakes repeat themselves, costing teams time, money, and credibility. That’s why I’m opening a FTTH/GPON Beginner Training under Olubunmi Aluko Learning Institute (OALI). This is not just theory. It’s practical, execution-focused training built from real projects. What the training covers: • FTTH & GPON fundamentals (clear, usable understanding) • Site survey methods that prevent losses • Network design that contractors can actually follow • Deployment, testing, and troubleshooting • Customer activation & quality handover What you get: • 5 live virtual sessions • 3 eBooks sent immediately after deposit • Practical templates & checklists • 30-day post-training support • OALI Certification 📅 Mid-January 2026 cohort (17th January) 💰 ₦150,000 (Early bird: ₦120,000 – 12 limited seats) 👉 Reserve your seat and get your eBooks here: https://lnkd.in/eynsJf4B If you want to understand FTTH properly and deliver it confidently, this is for you. #FTTH #FiberOptics #Telecommunications #TelecomTraining #NetworkEngineering #ProfessionalDevelopment #TechnicalSkills #Infrastructure #OALI #LearningThatWorks

Every trench we dig, every conduit we place, every splice and termination are important. How we test them is equally critical. With today’s high-density fiber cables, testing can get complicated. Enter automated Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 testing tools, along with cloud-enabled test plans. They certify every fiber right the first time, before we even leave the site. The tools are portable, easy to use and help to reduce rework, stay on schedule and make sure every fiber meets required specs. If you want to build it right the first time, VIAVI’s got the tools to help: https://lnkd.in/eAA8DmBT #RightFirstTime #FiberBuild #TestAutomation

Blowing or pulling part 11 Things you MUST remember when blowing fiber !! Conduct a CRASH TEST *Secure a 1-1.5 meter microtube in the head. *Block the outlet of the microtube. *Insert 3-4 meters of cable into the blower. *Set the motor power to the minimum and start the feeder at the highest speed. *Repeat the operation, increasing the motor power until the cable breaks. *The maximum allowable pushing force will be the one from the last test that did not damage the cable. #bluedragonjet #technology #telecommunications #innovation #development #industrialsolutions #fiberblowingmachines

The Fiber Broadband Association recently released a report estimating that the U.S. will need to double the length of its fiber optic infrastructure from 95,000 to about 187,000 route miles by 2029 to meet the communications needs of existing and new internet data centers and AI-based traffic. While policymakers have begun concentrating on the needs for new electric power infrastructure for data centers, the need for more fiber is “underappreciated,” FBA said. https://lnkd.in/ex3UmCDK

Why the Right Patch Cable Can Make or Break Your Fiber Testing At Southern FiberLink Solutions, we test tens of thousands of fibers every week in hyperscale data centers — and we’ve learned that one of the smallest components can cause the biggest delays: the patch cable used during OLTS testing. Using reference-grade patch cables that meet strict loss standards (typically < -0.02 dB) is not optional — it’s essential. That little sticker in the patch cable that often gets offer looked can be the difference between profit and loss. Here’s why: ✅ A dirty or subpar patch cable can skew your loss baseline, leading to false failures, inaccurate results, and rework of fiber that was perfectly spliced. ✅ We’ve seen crews who should’ve completed OLTS testing on a 6,912ct cable in 3 days, spend 2-3 weeks troubleshooting because of poor patch cable choices. ✅ Those delays don’t just cost time — they break budgets. In many cases, they can financially crush subcontractors who are working under fixed-rate or milestone-based contracts. In one example, the cost of additional labor and standby time pushed a subcontractor into the red on a job that should have been profitable. All because someone skipped the detail of cleaning and validating their reference cables. Precision matters. Cleanliness matters. Reference-grade cables matter. #FiberSplicing #OLTS #PatchCables #CleanFiberMatters #Hyperscale #DataCenterInfrastructure #SouthernFiberLink #WhyFiberConnectivityMatters #SubcontractorSuccess #SpliceTestDeliver

Fiber Optic Tip: What's the more Common SFP Problems - Low RX power or Overly Strong TX? 🔌💡 When working with SFP transceivers, two issues often come up: 1️⃣ Low RX Power – Usually caused by dirty connectors, long distances, fiber bends, or link loss. It leads to weak signal reception and unstable connections. 2️⃣ Overly Strong TX Power – Less common, but it can still cause problems. A transmitter that is too strong can saturate the receiver and create bit errors. 👉 In practice, Low RX Power is far more common. That’s why routine inspection, cleaning, and proper link budget design are key to maintaining reliable network performance. 💭 Question for you: Which issue have you faced more often in your projects – Low RX Power or Strong TX? Let’s share experiences below! ⬇️ #FiberOptics #Networking #SFP #Telecom #DataCenter #OpticalNetworking #Connectivity #TechTips

💰 The Hidden TCO Killer No One Talks About in #Fiber Projects Let’s be honest — most fiber projects don’t fail because of bad cable. They fail because of hardware inconsistency — small parts from different vendors that just don’t work well together. On drawings, everything looks perfect. But once you’re in the field, you realize: ▪️ the holes don’t line up, ▪️ the “UV-protected” coating starts to rust in a year, ▪️ and the poor crew ends up improvising to make things fit. Every team feels it: 🔹 ISPs want predictable uptime. 🔹 EPCs / OSPs just need to finish on schedule. 🔹 Procurement tries to match specs while keeping costs in check. Different goals — same headache. Here’s the truth: network reliability isn’t built in the factory; it’s built on the pole. It starts with standard parts, cross-brand compatibility, and a little more discipline before the first order is placed. 💬 Curious — in your projects, what usually causes more trouble: bad materials or bad fit? #FiberOptic #FTTH #ADSS #MiniADSS #OSP #ISP #EPC #TelecomEngineering #SystemIntegrator #Procurement #NetworkDeployment #TCO #Reliability #CableAccessories #InstallationStandards #FieldEngineering #RuralBroadband #telecommunications

"Fiber is a long-term investment.” That’s the mindset required to deliver broadband that keeps pace with what homes—and communities—will demand next. Greg Wilson, CEO of Ripple Fiber, explains why fiber is the best technology available and how delivering great in-home performance also means installing, configuring, and proactively monitoring Wi-Fi. Ripple Fiber chose Nokia from day one for end-to-end network technology—from the edge into the core—supporting both GPON and XGS-PON services over a single distribution network using multipoint optics. 🇺🇸 U.S. FTTx Update: Fiber Is Growing, But the Real Work Has Just Begun The U.S. fiber-broadband market has hit some impressive milestones—but the journey to full coverage and future-proof networks is far from over. 📈 What’s Happening Now In 2024 alone, U.S. providers passed an estimated 10.3 million homes with FTTH connectivity, pushing the total to about 88.1 million homes passed. Fiber now reaches more than 50% of U.S. households, a new landmark for the market. Adoption is ramping: the average take-rate on homes passed is climbing, with over 45% in some segments. 🧩 Why It Matters Fiber remains the backbone of modern connectivity. For the U.S., strong FTTx networks enable: Gigabit-level speeds for homes and businesses Low-latency platforms for 5G, edge computing and IoT A reliable infrastructure base for clean-energy systems, smart grids and next-gen services 🚧 The Challenges Ahead Growth is strong, but the path forward is ridden with real-world hurdles: Permitting & deployment complexity remain major delays, especially in rural and suburban regions. Workforce and build-capacity constraints are limiting how fast networks can be delivered. With large swathes still un-passed (70 + million homes are still addressable), scale and speed are essential. 💡 Where the Opportunity Lies For operators, municipalities and network engineers, this is a moment of potential: Designing “first-time-right” builds will pay dividends in cost, time and reliability. FTTx is now competing strongly with older HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coax) networks—which is shifting the competitive landscape. Integration matters: fiber networks must form the foundation not just for internet access, but for connected services, data centers, and mobility systems. 🔮 Looking Ahead The U.S. fiber market is no longer about “if” but “how fast”. The next 3–5 years will determine who leads—those who plan technically sound builds, manage regulatory/permit risk, and scale with efficiency will win. The message is clear: Fiber isn’t just infrastructure—it’s the future foundation for everything digital in America. #FTTx #Broadband #Infrastructure #USA #NetworkDesign #FiberDeployment #Connectivity
