As an update for its fifth and sixth reviews under the $8 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has called on Egypt to accelerate structural reforms to unlock growth potential, create quality jobs for its growing population, and build resilience against external shocks. During a recent press briefing, IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack confirmed yesterday that Egypt’s fifth and sixth reviews under the $8 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) will be combined and completed this fall, with a mission to Cairo expected in the coming months. These reviews will determine the next disbursements. She also highlighted that the first review of the $1.3 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) will take place alongside the sixth EFF review, with two reform measures under assessment tied to about $274 million in disbursements. Sometimes it’s great to take inspiration from unexpected sources. Yesterday, I joined an inspiring discussion at the IUCN Philanthropy Summit in Abu Dhabi on how businesses can align their values with purpose to support a nature-positive future. Philanthropy is no longer about one-off donations or well-meaning CSR. It’s about creating systems of impact, using technology, partnerships, and capital to deliver measurable, long-term change. We explored how business and philanthropy can work as one. When connected with purpose, they move beyond aid to empowerment, equipping people with the tools and confidence to improve their lives. Real impact starts with empathy, consistency, and being open to listen and learn. Connectivity is essential is both mitigating as well as preventing the impact of severe weather and other environmental impacts. From early alerts using mobile phones, to using fintech to distribute aid, to using AI models to predict certain events are all powered by technology.
