How many days in the last 5 years were challenging? If you are a CEO or Founder of a Franchise system, read Rosenberg’s book. I read it a couple of years ago and it helped to reaffirm or redirect my approach to franchising. And, to get through challenging days. For the Franchisor CEO or Founder: Infrastructure over speed. I talk about our growth online but what people don’t see is the significant changes we have made in our people and systems over these last 3 years to improve the infrastructure to support the speed of growth. Build for the long-term. Franchising is compounding growth and when you start to think in 20-30 years, it changes how you deal with the challenges. 9 emerging brands launched in under 4 years is a degree of difficulty that I am unable to explain. Looking at it over 30 years helps. Leadership is about being a steward. A steward for the investors, franchisees, employees, suppliers and brand legacy. My goal is to be a steward of each brand. Rosenberg was the CEO for 35 years at Dunkin. I was lucky to be in the room where he was sharing parts of experience and get a copy of his book.
