Carly Langer shared this"When people hear I’m an engineer at Ford and a former Major League Baseball player, they usually think those worlds couldn’t be more different," says Trystan Magnuson, Vehicle Integration Supervisor on the Ford Explorer & Lincoln Aviator and a former Major League Baseball pitcher with the Athletics. "The truth is, they’re built on the same foundation." "At the highest levels of baseball, everything comes down to design. The design of a swing, a pitch, a set of mechanics refined to the smallest detail. Today, players and coaches spend hours studying video and pouring over data — spin rate, movement, grip, angles — things we never talked about when I was younger. The game changed because the data changed it. To keep up, players had to become part-engineer. Now, as an engineer at Ford, I’m guided by the same mindset I learned on the mound: there’s always something to learn, adjust, and improve. I work with data every day, but at the heart of my role as a vehicle integration supervisor is people — bringing teams together to solve problems, make smart tradeoffs, and look at the vehicle through the customer’s eyes so we can make it just a little better than it was before. Today, Ford and Major League Baseball — two institutions where I’ve dedicated most of my life — announced a multiyear partnership. This makes sense to me on a gut level. I can't wait to take my kids to a game this summer and see them sharing the same space. Because that's what all of this is really about. The reward at the end of the journey." Carly Langer shared thisThe iconic “We Can Do It!” spirit of Rosie the Riveter lives on every March 21 at Ford. Teams look forward to the annual tradition of dressing like Rosie to celebrate the strength of women in manufacturing – especially because the story of Rosie is deeply rooted in Ford’s own history. Her image, popularized during World War II through a promotional war bond film and J. Howard Miller's poster, was inspired by Rose Will Monroe, an employee at Ford’s Willow Run Bomber Plant. Rosie the Riveter remains a symbol of the contributions and dedication of women in the workforce. Carly Langer shared this“I’m excited to help bridge the gap between gasoline-powered vehicles and fully electric vehicles,” says Ava Nemanic a hybrid systems engineer and recent Ford hire. “I’m working on next-generation hybrid vehicles, and my job is to ensure all the different components, like the battery, motor, engine, transmission and more, come together and work successfully.” As the first engineer in her family, she didn’t know what to expect in the field, but she loves it. “I feel really lucky every day to be able to work on the products I grew up with and see first-hand what it takes to make the whole vehicle. I get to work with so many different people and do lots of simulations and analysis work, which is really satisfying.” Ava says what drew her to Ford was her passion for sustainability and the focus on hybrids, but as someone who loves history, the company’s heritage was a big plus as well. “It’s super cool to work in the Ford Engineering Lab. Walking by Henry and Edsel Fords’ offices in the morning and seeing his and other original Ford employees’ heights marked on the wall makes you feel connected to the company's history in a way I didn't expect,” she says. “It’s mind-boggling to think of all the technology developed in that building in the last hundred years as I’m working on the next generation of it.” “One thing that surprised me is how much Ford emphasizes volunteering and philanthropy,” she says. “I’m not a Michigan native, so I didn't realize how involved Ford was with the community until I came to work here. The PTO allotted specifically for volunteering really wowed me.” “I love to travel, and everywhere I go, I meet people who are super excited when they find out what I do. I randomly met a bunch of people outside a New Zealand restaurant who were on their way to a car show. When they found out I was an automotive engineer, they ended up buying me lunch and sitting with me for a couple hours asking me a ton of questions and sharing stories.” Working for a global company with such a long history will foster even more connections when Ava travels. “Everybody knows Ford. It’s so cool to be able to make connections halfway around the world when I mention what I do.” Ready to make history with talented colleagues like Ava? Carly Langer shared this“You see them, hear them, feel the rumble in your chest, smell the burning rubber and race fumes,” said Jen digital design lead. “It would be hard NOT to experience them in some way.” This #FordEmployee wasn't talking about the hum of cable cars that typically buzz in San Francisco's iconic Marina District. On Saturday, February 21, the city was electrified by a very different kind of roar. And Jen was right in the thick of the action, soaking up every G-Force and tire-shredding moment, along with software engineer Ravin Sardal. The Red BuRavin Sardalnce again brought the heart-pounding spectacle of Formula 1 to the Bay, transforming the waterfront into a high-octane playground. With fans tuning in from around the globe and thousands lining the streets, this wasn't just an event – it was a sensory explosion of speed, precision, and raw automotive power. "I love these kinds of showcases; they’re my favorite car events to go to,” said Jen. “Mainly because the cars can be experienced at their fullest (save driving them).” “I will always love the Mustang. Getting to see that GT3 up close and see its incredible build was a treat. I had a great conversation with one of the crew and it was truly insightful for me to learn, and see, all the decisions that went into making such a purpose-built machine. The cherry on top? Hearing it rip through the streets of San Fran!” For Ravin, being an F1 fan is a way of life – he hasn’t missed watching a race for the past 10 years. "It was amazing seeing the Red Bull F1 car that Vettel raced and won a championship in. More than seeing it, hearing it was something else. You could keep your eyes closed and know exactly where it was on the circuit,” said Ravin. “I have never heard the V8 F1 in person before, so it was quite a treat, and videos online do not do the sound justice.” Beyond the sensory experience, the event also reinforced the significance of Ford's return to Formula 1, what it means for our customers, and how racing has a direct connection to the roles of our teams. “The culture that’s inherently a part of these machines is what drew me to work at Ford in the first place,” said Jen. “Going to these events reminds me what’s on the other side of all the work we do; the community that gets built around the love of cars, the passion in the fans, and the inspiration it can bring.” "I am very excited about Ford and Red Bull’s partnership,” said Ravin. “It’s going to be fun to see Ford’s return to F1." Join Jen and Ravin in the F1 spirit by tuning in to the Formula 1 season opener in Australia and cheer on your favorite team in Ford Racing blue. It comes up in A LOT of the conversations I have with University Recruiting leaders and almost always with the same energy: "I know we need to do this better, I just don't know how." 😅 So when our research team Veris Insights spent the last year digging into exactly this - how to build an Early Career workforce planning framework that actually works - I was VERYYY invested in what they found. 👀 On April 22nd at 1pm ET, we'll share core findings from our Workforce Planning Solution Suite, and I'll be joining Emily Falstewart and Jordan Blair-Paladino live to walk through it together. We'll cover: How to build a forecast that actually holds up 🦾 How to move it from paper to practice within your organization 📜-> 🎥 The obstacles that tend to get in the way - and how to overcome them 🛑 -> 🟢 If this is something you're wrestling with, come join us! Carly Langer reacted on thisCarly Langer reacted on this1, 2, 3, Kaizen! I wrapped up an incredible week participating in the Kaizen Workshop at Ford's Windsor Engine Plant. For those unfamiliar, a Kaizen event brings together a cross-functional team to focus intensely on a specific problem and drive meaningful improvements — all within a single week. It's fast-paced, collaborative, and honestly one of the most energizing experiences you can have on the manufacturing floor. A few things that stood out to me from the week: 1. Our divide-and-conquer approach and open communication made all the difference in staying focused and aligned. 2. Operators are our best resource: The insights and ideas that came directly from the people on the floor were invaluable. 3. The work doesn't stop at the end of the week. Maintaining momentum through structured follow-up actions is what turns a Kaizen event into lasting change. Grateful to work with the best team members Royce Corey Brandon Hineman Joseph Roehring and excited to see the results develop over the coming week! 💪 Special appreciation goes to Mac Fraser Connie G. Rima Ghafari Jasser Kristen Novelletto Jennifer Schoenherr for making this a success. Detroit automotive supplier hiring temperature check: I am hearing a consistent theme across Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers right now. 2026 planning is cautious. Headcount is tighter. Every hire needs to be justified. But the roles tied to revenue are still moving. What is getting approved: Key Account Managers who can protect and grow OEM or Tier 1 relationships Sales Engineers who can translate technical value into margin, not just activity Account Managers who can stabilize launches, manage escalation, and keep programs on track What is different this cycle: The “nice to have” list is gone. Hiring teams want direct product and customer fit. The best candidates are still employed, and they are selective. Speed matters. If you wait for applicants, you will miss the people you actually want.

#hiringmanagers know that the plug-and-play candidate is someone who has already been doing what needs done: in other words, has been solving similar problems in a similar industry. So why don't job postings ever spell out the problems that need to be solved? Listing out a bunch of responsibilities is the purpose of the #jobdescription, not the #jobposting. The purpose of the posting is to convey what the candidate will need to achieve. #jobcandidates, if you tailor your resume, cover letter and introductory calls to reflect how you've already been solving these problems, you've increased the chance of landing the interview... as long as the hiring manager continues to seek reasons you'd be a fit. Employ the STAR method when describing your successes: This was the SITUATION, what your TASK(s) were, the ACTIONS you took, and the quantitative RESULTS. Just my two cents... from someone who spends his entire day learning how candidates have solved the same problems my clients need to solve...

I recently reached out to an HR Manager who had been constantly posting new job openings. It looked exhausting. Curious, I asked if recruiting was her primary focus or just one of many responsibilities. Her response? “I handle everything in HR—but recruiting is overwhelming. I’m expected to do it all, with no support, and it’s stretching me way too thin. If you hear of any HR roles that might be a better fit, let me know.” That stuck with me. We expect HR professionals to manage employee relations, compliance, onboarding, engagement, investigations, training, succession planning… and act as full-cycle recruiters? Let’s be honest: Recruiting is a craft. It requires time, strategy, storytelling, emotional intelligence, market insight, and relentless energy. Treating it as just another checkbox in HR does a disservice to both recruiters and the organization. To the HR pros juggling it all—you’re unsung heroes. But companies, we have to do better. Hiring a dedicated recruiter isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Especially for the people holding your entire employee experience together.
