The USPS has announced that it will reopen 18,000+ DDU entry points, via a solicitation process, early next year. This is good news for those who believe in the value and stability of the USPS last mile delivery network, and partnership. It is also a radical departure, for the better, from the direction that the USPS was headed under the previous Postmaster General. Perhaps the Parcel Select Lightweight will be revisited next.   This change comes about 18 months or so after the consolidator networks were disrupted by the USPS, which is a lifetime in logistics. As a result, the low-cost ecommerce demand gave rapid rise to Delivery Service Provider (DSP) networks that have transformed the market, so it will be interesting to see how competitive the USPS can get to pull back some of this needed volume to offset letter delivery and other internal costs.   https://lnkd.in/g_yHqiUk
