CONTRIBUTING author: The Standard for Program Management - Third Edition, published by the Project Management Institute (PMI), written by a group of dedicated volunteers, and vetted through a global audience of professionals in a public exposure process. Program Management provides organizations with an effective framework for managing interrelated groupings of work designed to produce benefits not achievable by managing the work as individual initiatives. Unlike projects that are characterized as unique and temporary, programs are often large, complex, lengthy, and tend to be less well defined. These fundamental differences are found in the way projects and programs are managed in response to uncertainty and change. This edition of the Program standard brings a fresh perspective on Program Management that represents a step forward for the profession with the merger of process and domain knowledge.
