Adele Li shared thisThe response to ChatGPT Images 2.0 has been incredible. Usage is up more than 50%, and ImageGen is bringing a significant number of new users to ChatGPT every day. Products like ImageGen are made possible by OpenAI’s compute team and infrastructure strategy. Moments like this are a reminder that breakthrough user experiences only happen when product ambition is matched by world-class infrastructure.Adele Li shared thisMost days my mind is blown. Being impressed feels very 2022. Q1 reinforced what we are seeing across the business every day: AI demand is compounding at extraordinary scale. We hit our aggressive plan, saw strength across every major part of the business, and entered Q2 with enough momentum to raise our revenue expectations for the rest of the year. One week in, GPT-5.5 is already our strongest model launch yet. API revenue ramped more than 2x faster than any prior release. Not because the model is louder on benchmarks (although it is), but because it is more useful. GPT-5.5 thinks more clearly, deploys more easily, and delivers more value with fewer tokens. You can see that in customer behavior almost immediately. Businesses are deploying agents with less prompting and less supervision. Developers are moving from idea to production-ready code dramatically faster with Codex. Codex revenue doubled in under seven days, a strong signal that demand for agentic coding tools is accelerating fast. Consumer adoption continues to surprise us too. ChatGPT Images 2.0 drove image usage up more than 50% in just a few weeks, with nearly 60% of daily users coming from newly logged-in users. People are not experimenting anymore. These tools are becoming part of daily life, work, and creativity. Meeting this moment requires more than great models. It requires infrastructure at a scale the world has never built before. When we announced Stargate in late 2025, we committed to securing 10GW of AI infrastructure in the United States by 2029. We have already surpassed that milestone, including more than 3GW added in the last 90 days alone. But infrastructure is not just about GPUs and power curves. The infrastructure of the Intelligence Age has to create durable value in the real world: jobs, workforce development, responsible energy planning, and long-term investment in the communities helping power this transformation. That is what we are building in places like Abilene. The pace of AI progress will continue to surprise people. What matters now is whether we can scale it responsibly, economically, and broadly enough that the benefits are global. We intend to do exactly that. https://lnkd.in/g8auvDkMBuilding the compute infrastructure for the Intelligence AgeBuilding the compute infrastructure for the Intelligence Age

Adele Li reacted on thisAdele Li reacted on thisLast week I had a great conversation with Megan Lightcap at Slow Ventures x Delphi's Creator Day in NYC. We covered a lot of ground, ranging from what we learned from Sora, to how creators (including non-technical ones) can leverage Chat and Codex, to what defensible moat creators have in a world where everyone is using AI. I believe that so many creators are small businesses (and, hopefully, eventually large ones!). But at the core of any successful creator is their ability to create content that entertains, educates, or inspires people. That's what they want to spend their time on. It's a rare skill and something that will truly differentiate them. I think AI can help with everything that supports that skill, leaving humans to focus on what humans are great at. Someone in the audience asked me directly what I think creators should be building with AI. I told them that I'd never have the exact right answer for that question, but that they would. Start with what you want to accomplish and go from there. I guarantee that if you just start talking to Chat and Codex, your question or idea will accelerate into something meaningful. And I literally mean talk to Chat / Codex: voice mode has been a massive unlock for me because it's so much more natural than typing. The ambitions of creators are broad, and increasingly they have access to tools like ChatGPT and Codex that can help them move faster across many parts of their work, whether it's figuring out how to run an effective marketing campaign, redesigning and building a website, optimizing a script and thumbnails to maximize audience engagement and viewership, or better understanding their audience and how to optimize their content for engagement. I'm so energized by helping creative people and media companies of all sizes and shapes figure out how to use this technology in practical ways. If you have great examples of creators using AI, I would love to listen and learn more. (And shout out the event team for making sure my giant face was projected on a screen behind me during the chat; this is going to be a standard part of my rider from here on out)

Adele Li reacted on thisAdele Li reacted on thisWhat’s behind GPT Image 2, and why did it become one of those “feel the AGI” moments? I just listened to the OpenAI Podcast episode with Kenji Hata, researcher on the image model, and Adele Li, product lead for ImageGen. One quote really stuck with me: “If DALL·E was the Stone Age, Image 2.0 is the Renaissance.” And honestly, that feels right. This is not just about creating beautiful images. It is about turning imagination into something visible, understandable, editable, and shareable. Your creativity and imagination are becoming much easier to express. 🖼️ A few things that stood out to me: ➤ Image generation is moving from “fun” to productive workflows. Infographics, diagrams, educational visuals, social media assets, website concepts, app mockups, product visuals, thumbnails, storyboards, sprite sheets, and even entire visual worlds. ➤ It helps explain complex topics visually. One of my favorite points from the episode was how teachers can use it to create something every child can understand through an image, in their own language and with their own preferences. 🎓 This is huge for personalized learning. ➤ Text rendering and multilingual capabilities are becoming much stronger. That opens up many practical use cases for business, education, communication, and design. ➤ It becomes a first step for building websites and apps. You can create a visual concept with ImageGen, then use Codex or another coding agent to turn that concept into a real app or website. Zero-shot app creation from idea to visual concept to working product is starting to feel much more real. ➤ It lets people create new worlds. Game design, comic books, consistent characters, visual storytelling, architecture, interior design, branding, and entirely new creative directions. And this is still early. 🔵 What I found especially interesting is where the roadmap is going: The vision is not just a better image generator. 💡 It is a creative agent. 💡 A personal creative assistant that understands your taste, your preferences, your context, and the output you want. 💡 A personal architect. 💡 A personal interior designer. 💡 A personal wedding planner. 💡 A personal visual strategist. All in one. For me, this is one of those moments where you can really feel the shift. We are moving from prompting tools to collaborating with creative systems. From “generate me an image” to “help me express what I imagine.” Highly recommend listening to the full episode. It is a conversation about images, creativity, product thinking, research, education, and what visual creation with AI could become next. P.S. Guess who helped me download the video and add the thumbnail in the first 3 seconds? #OpenAI #ImageGeneration #AI #Creativity #Codex

Adele Li reacted on thisAdele Li reacted on thisToday, I’m closing my chapter at OpenAI after three very meaningful years. I leave with deep gratitude for the opportunity to help scale the GTM organization. The timing feels right. I’m drawn back to the early stages of company building, and OpenAI is in a strong place—with GPT-5.5, Codex, and Denise Holland Dresser's inspired leadership. I’m joining Thrive Capital as an Operator in Residence. I’ve been fortunate to work at Thrive-backed companies over the past decade—first Stripe, then OpenAI—and have experienced firsthand their commitment to their companies. I’m excited to pay that forward to founders across the portfolio and stay close to building. To my OpenAI teammates: thank you. Special gratitude to Brad Lightcap for taking a bet on me. And to the Thrive team—I can’t wait to get started.

Adele Li reacted on thisProud to see something I helped build gain so much momentum 🍾Adele Li reacted on thisImages 2.0 in ChatGPT has been a bit of a game changer for me. As is often the case with new AI features, there comes a tipping point when they go from being a bit of fun to genuinely useful for work. A few ways my team and I have been using it recently: - We transcribe meetings with Codex, then use Images 2.0 to turn the discussion, decisions, and next steps into a simple visual summary. It is a surprisingly good way to make the main points stick. - Each week, we use image generation to make a quick, easy to read reminder for journalists, content creators, etc. of everything we launched that week. And yes, we launch a lot. - We use it for simple visuals of team plans, comms calendars, and other things that are often clearer as an image than as another document. - I recently used it to make a quick mind map for an exec ahead of an interview, showing the main themes, likely questions, and how the different points connected. Much better than a long prep doc for visual learners. Hardly surprising that we are seeing it being used at an incredible rate in places like India and across the region! https://lnkd.in/gTZBFCzhSam Altman says ‘ChatGPT Images 2.0 loves India’ as users create over 1 billion AI imagesSam Altman says ‘ChatGPT Images 2.0 loves India’ as users create over 1 billion AI images

Amazon brings in Covariant founders Abbeel, Chen, and Duan 🤖 Reverse acqui-hiring of one of the most experienced robotic manipulation teams in the industry. Pieter Abbeel (UC Berkeley), Peter Chen, and Rocky Duan founded Covariant in 2017 to solve real-world pick-and-place for items with high shape and size variability. Their software already runs in production warehouses handling complex manipulation tasks. This follows Amazon's Kiva Systems playbook — acquire the team, integrate the tech, scale it across the fulfillment network. The timing matters. Tesla and other robotics companies are competing hard for this exact talent pool. Abbeel's work in robot learning and reinforcement learning is foundational to the field. Now that expertise goes directly into the largest logistics operation on the planet. What gets interesting: Covariant had multiple customers. Amazon now controls that IP and those deployment learnings. The gap between companies with in-house robotics AI teams and those licensing external solutions just widened. Nvidia and others building foundation models for robotics face a tougher sell when customers see Amazon vertically integrating this capability. Who's next? The acqui-hire cycle for robotics AI talent is accelerating. #robotics #AI #logistics #automation

AI agents without memory are stateless, inefficient, and limited. That becomes even more important as enterprises move from single-agent workflows to multi-agent systems, where context needs to persist across agents, sessions, tools, and LLM vendors. Excited to join David Joy from Cockroach Labs on May 19th for a deep dive on architecting persistent memory for multi-agent systems. 🚀 Timely topic for us: Memori Labs just released its new agent-native memory infrastructure, which automatically structures memory from agent trace and execution - not just natural language conversation. That means agents can remember what they did, not only what they said. We’ll also be sharing some exciting demos and perks for those who attend. Join us Tuesday, May 19th at 10AM PT. Thank you to Brian Gormley and The Wall Street Journal for including my perspective on Generate Biomedicines’ IPO. “Generate represents exactly where this industry should be heading - AI-driven optimization of what reaches the clinic should be table stakes. That said, the market will ultimately value these companies in their programs, not their AI platform.” Optimizing what gets into the clinic matters. The deeper paradigm shift, though, is using AI to truly model human biology and reshape development from end to end. That is when the economics and outcomes of drug development begin to change.

Last week, our Founder and Managing Partner Lu Zhang attended GenAI Week SV 2025 in Santa Clara, where she shared insights on a panel titled "Inside the VC's Mind: What AI Founders Get Wrong About Fundraising." With infrastructure saturation, model commoditization, and agent fatigue shaping today's AI landscape, founders face an evolving set of challenges. The discussion explored what truly differentiates fundable AI startups today, from mastering effective go-to-market strategy and recognizing misleading signals to building genuine competitive advantages beyond the model layer. Great to share the stage with fellow investors Alvin Xiao (NYX Ventures), Kahini Shah (Obvious Ventures), Shannon McClenaghan (StartX), Prat M. (Xfund), and Jenny Xiao (Leonis Capital). "Build the event you wish existed" That's what we at Monadical did last week at #NYTW. We wanted an AI Engineers discussion for Engineers. There's always a lot of events out there for VCs to network, or for startups to learn about G2M, but very little on lessons learned from actual engineers in the field. So that's the event we hosted. Big thank yous to our awesome panel, Roy Pereira, Ben Cohen and Corey J. Gallon. Here's the key takeaways and the AI tools we're using. 🚀 All three panelists independently called AI Agents the most transformative LLM application they’ve used. They specifically called out Claude 3.5 Sonnet for its accuracy and reliability. 🪨 We dug into how LLMs are “jagged”, not general. They can be shockingly good at some tasks and completely fail at others. Everyone agreed: good evaluations are critical (and hard.) 🧪 Corey noted how public benchmarks and reality are two different things. Most public evals are saturated or gamed. ♊ Ben emphasized that AI projects are actually two projects: building the tool and building the evaluation process. 🧱 We explored how falling dev costs may impact startup defensibility and labor demand. Roy shared that founders are already shifting strategies in response. ⚒️ In a world of daily AI launches, the panel discussed how they decide what’s worth attention, and what’s just noise. They called out tools like Goose, Aider, Claude Code, and Monadical’s own Cubbi, which helps run agentic workflows safely in dev environments. (links in the comments). Subquadratic Secures $29M For Scaling Traditional transformer LLMs face exponential computational costs with extended context. Subquadratic has emerged from stealth with $29M, claiming a breakthrough that could change this: the first large language model with fully subquadratic scaling. This innovation allows computational cost to grow *linearly* with context length, not exponentially. For agentic AI, this is profound. Current LLM context limitations are a major bottleneck for agents requiring long-term memory, complex planning, and continuous learning over vast information streams. Subquadratic's approach promises to make long-context processing economically viable, unlocking more powerful, cost-effective, and scalable agents. This could fundamentally reshape the economics of deploying advanced agents. #AgenticAI #LLM #AIScaling #AIResearch #ComputationalEfficiency
