Not sure of all the facts, as they have not been provided, but the optics are not good for Zscaler. TLDR: At a conference and in earnings calls, the company's CEO indicates that they using "proprietary log data from half a trillion daily transactions" to train its in-house AI model. In its LinkedIn response below, the company states "Zscaler does not use customer data to train its AI models." Would you like to know the devices that are NOT ready for new quantum encryption? This isn't a tech problem, this is a planning and a budget problem. How deep or shallow is your exposure today and in 3 years? The answer could an answer that requires a tens of millions of dollars investment in new routers, switches, operational equipment, etc. It's not expensive to determine the risk answer unless you want to wait to 2027. An emergency averted could just be called: Wednesday.

SailPoint is the latest cybersecurity-related company to hit the $1 billion ARR mark — a huge milestone they've been building towards for 20 years. The company disclosed $1.04B ARR at 28% YoY growth in its Q3'26 earnings report yesterday, which beat guidance and estimates across the board. Lots of highlights here, but here's what stood out to me: → Their financial performance is in a "rare universe." SailPoint's financial and operating metrics were impressive: 28% total ARR growth, 38% SaaS ARR growth, 24% net new ARR growth, 114% NRR... ...plus several more impressive disclosures of specific metrics (we'll get to some of them next). SailPoint CFO Brian Carolan nailed the point: > "We're in a rare universe here in terms of companies that can deliver into the high 20s, almost touching 30% of ARR growth while delivering significant margin expansion. So we feel like we're really uniquely positioned." There are very few cybersecurity companies (or even software companies) delivering this level of financial performance at scale right now. → Platform modernization has a surprisingly high upside. SailPoint's leadership team disclosed specific platform modernization percentages (% of on-premise customers who have migrated to the SaaS product) for the first time (that I've ever seen) on the earnings call. The numbers are super interesting: 15% of their historical maintenance base (the on-prem customers) have migrated, which means there's still 85% to go. That may sound somewhat alarming intuitively until you factor in another highly relevant disclosure: they're seeing a 2-3x ARR uplift when customers convert. There are a lot of reasons why this happens. In general, I expect it's going to validate SailPoint's product strategy. Their SaaS product has several components that aren't available on-premise, including most of what they launched during the quarter at their Navigate conference. At some point, the benefits of SaaS clearly outweigh most other reasons for staying on premise. This effect is going to keep compounding as SailPoint keeps adding to the SaaS product. → Flex licensing, but make it identity. SailPoint formally announced its new flex licensing model (Navigator), in line with a broader trend in the industry. The notable part is that flex licensing is uniquely valuable for identity, especially for enterprise customers. It's very difficult to scope identity deployments at scale, which also means it's tricky to figure out licensing. This gets even more difficult when you move to other identity types beyond humans (third parties, machine identities, agents, etc.). It's harder still when you move from compliance-related applications to the full application portfolio. The flex model basically solves all of this ambiguity. Customers can just get started and adjust as they go. This eliminates a lot of pressure on pricing and one of the major hurdles for progress in general.

Some journeys validate a thesis. Some teams define a category. Koi did both. From the earliest conversations with Amit Assaraf 🎏, Idan Dardikman 🎏, Itay Kruk 🎏, it was clear they weren’t iterating on endpoint security - they were rebuilding it for a world where software is non-binary and workstations are becoming platforms for AI agents. Microsoft just made every SEG vendor's next renewal conversation a lot more uncomfortable. Starting July 2026, Defender for Office 365 P1 features move into E3 licensing. Safe Links, Safe Attachments, Advanced Anti-Phishing. What used to require E5 will now ship with the license most enterprises already have. For #CISOs, the math changes overnight. If you are running a third-party #SEG on top of Microsoft 365, you now have real leverage at the negotiation table. But stronger native protection does not mean complete protection. Gartner's latest research, Capitalize on Microsoft’s Licensing Changes for Email Security, is clear: P1 still lacks phishing incident response, security awareness training, automated email analysis, and advanced threat reporting. The baseline improves. The operational gaps stay wide open.
