We want to make sure that only you access your account, so we may sometimes use security prompts when you attempt to sign in. You may see security prompts if you sign into your account from an unfamiliar location or device, or if we detect suspicious web activity. Here are some security prompts you might see:
After entering your credentials, you may be shown a sign-in security prompt through your LinkedIn app. You will receive a push notification prompt on your signed-in mobile device.
To approve the sign in request:

Go to your mobile device’s notifications and click on the prompt from LinkedIn.

Tap Yes, it’s me to approve the change. Tap No, it’s not me if you want to deny the sign in request or did not initiate the request.

Return to your original device and complete the change.
If you receive a sign-in security prompt without initiating the request:

Go to your device’s notifications and click on the prompt from LinkedIn.

Tap No, it’s not me on the prompt. The sign in request will be denied immediately. You will also be prompted to change your password (recommended) to protect your account.

Go to your account security settings and remove any sessions you don’t recognize. Click here to learn more about managing your active sessions.

File a report if you see any suspicious activity on your account.
On the sign in page, you may be prompted to check your email account for a verification code to verify your sign in attempt.
- Navigate to the email account associated with your LinkedIn account.
- Enter the verification code sent from LinkedIn.
- Type the code on the sign in page and click Submit.
If you didn’t receive the code, you can click Resend to all emails on the sign in page. If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of an email from LinkedIn, read more about possible fraudulent emails.
If you did initiate the sign in request but are unable to successfully pass the challenge, you may select the option to verify your identity instead. Click here to learn more about identity verification.

On the sign in page, you may be asked to type the characters shown in an image on the screen. CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a commonly used security method that helps to distinguish human attempts to access the site from automatic, computer-generated attempts typically used by spammers.

If you have difficulty distinguishing a CAPTCHA image, click Try a different image. Audio CAPTCHA is also available by clicking the audio icon on the Security Verification page.

Enable cookies on your browser. Your browser's help section can provide instructions on how to do this.

Try not to sign out each time you use LinkedIn during the day. We'll remember your most recent sign in for a period of time so you can access your account without seeing the prompts. We do recommend that you sign out at the end of each day.

Avoid using a VPN or a proxy server.
