The insurance industry's most underappreciated asset isn't capital; I think it's data. My latest piece,… ahem, my first piece,… in Carrier Management makes a case that complex feedback loops are reshaping casualty risk — from AI liability to legal reality outrunning actuarial models faster than anyone expected. At Zywave, we're watching our demographic, exposure, and loss databases get fused with our clients' proprietary data in pretty creative ways. AI is quickly reducing the friction/pain of integration, and the utility of that composite grows with every connection made. Big thanks to Susanne Sclafane for putting this on her platform,… and also for poking me with questions that made this sharper. Before #WFH, there was "in the office every day." And while I am not ready to go back to that, nothing builds relationships like working while sitting next to someone for a full year+. Su & I did that, circa 2011-2012, well before my "selfies with everyone" phase. 🤳 I know how she has combined her actuarial background with sound inquisitive insurance journalism, and I also know how high her editorial standards are. So, yes, when she ran my piece in Carrier Management, I excitedly smiled & dialed, and we had a nice catch-up.
