    With all the hype around AI right now, this episode of GAEA Talks Live from HumanX with Steve Ancheta was a genuine breath of fresh air. Steve is the founder and CEO of Zig.ai, the AI platform built for the sales rep rather than for management. Their mission statement is unlike any I have come across in technology: "to give sales back to the people whose lives it changed." That line tells you everything about why he built this company. Steve's own story is the foundation of Zig. Out of high school, he could not afford college without taking on debt he did not want, and he found out he had a son on the way. He needed a real job. Somebody took a chance on him, gave him his first sales role, and told him "don't make me regret it." 16 years later, every problem he's seen in sales organisations large and small has been poured into the product he is building today. This was one of the most inspiring conversations I've had on the podcast. With so much of the AI conversation in 2026 dominated by hype, benchmarks and competing platforms, it was genuinely engaging to sit down with a humble, thoughtful founder who has built something powerful with AI for the right reasons. A few key moments: Steve's defining founder insight. Any real founder is willing to jump off a cliff and build a plane on the way down with full confidence they will rise back up before they hit the ground. The difference between a great founder and a poor one comes down to one thing - strategic optimism. His view that the moat of tomorrow is domain expertise. As building gets easier for engineers, the startups that scale will be the ones run by people who understand the problem deeply. I certainly share this belief. His Steve Jobs lens on product. Build technology around how humans already behave, not the other way around. Asking a sales rep to conform to a system is asking them to leave. His mission to fight burnout. Sales has one of the highest turnover rates of any profession, and every time a rep walks, the institutional knowledge walks with them. Steve doesn't ask his customers what they think of a feature. He asks how it makes them feel. His two internal product rules at Zig are stupidly simple and feel like magic. And his closing thought captures the heart of the whole conversation. AI is one of the most amazing technologies we will ever see in our lifetime, but it comes without a soul. Humans have that. The more AI becomes the forefront, the more the human aspect has to be there to balance it out. This is a conversation about the human story behind the AI. The why. The journey. The single mum waiting tables who became a President's Club rep in twenty four months and changed her life through sales. Those are the people Steve is building for.
