Written by Lauren Zanedis, I have thought a lot about this post and the corresponding article, highlighting some serious issues with how certain luxury platforms are approaching authentication. It brought me right back to my past life in brand and beauty, where “authenticity” was a word we used constantly. Authentic results. Authentic creators. Authenticity in a world where AI-generated content is becoming the norm. But being at Zero Collective these last 2 months has made that word feel a lot heavier — and a lot more meaningful. Our members trust us with something deeply personal: the assurance that the bags they carry are real, genuine, and worthy of the brands they represent. And in a world where counterfeit goods are becoming more sophisticated (and honestly, beautiful), that trust isn’t something we take lightly. I’m proud of the lengths our team goes to in order to uphold that trust. We authenticate bags at the point of origin — and yes, we’ve absolutely encountered fakes. We partner with Entrupy to verify every item when it first arrives. And we’ve built internal processes to ensure each bag is re-reviewed when it’s sent out and again when it comes back to us. Authenticity isn’t just a brand value for us. It’s a service, a promise, and a responsibility to our members. And it’s one I’m deeply committed to upholding every single day.

I’ve been exploring the spectrum of trust in modern luxury: Vestiaire Collective: how trust breaks when authentication becomes a service function instead of a sacred act. StockX: how radical transparency turned data into provenance. Hermès: how devotion and visibility became the ultimate luxury moat. Together, this series confirms: authentication isn’t a back-office process. It’s the product. And companies that showcase it (like Hermès) win. How do I know? At Sotheby's, I learned that authentication moves markets: a $50M Basquiat sells because of certainty, not speed. At DoorDash, I learned that friction kills scale: you win by removing latency. The moment you blur them, you don't scale: you erode. And the future belongs to companies with operators that can tell the difference. Honored to have the first part of the series featured in The Sociology of Business by Ana Andjelic (https://lnkd.in/eqg-H-Z2). If you’re: —Running ops at a luxury or resale platform —A CEO/COO scaling a brand that trades on belief —An investor evaluating trust-based commerce I’d love your take in the comments (the full series is linked there).

Portfolio Love | Zero Collective 🖤 Lately it feels like the world’s turned up the volume on bad news. Even the little things can start to feel heavy. That’s why small joys matter more than ever. The moments that make you pause, smile, and feel a little lighter. Zero Collective was built around that feeling. A way to elevate the everyday and bring a bit of lightness and luxury back into routine. With access to an unlimited closet of designer handbags, you can choose a new piece each month, keep it as long as you like, and swap it when you’re ready for something different. Sometimes the smallest lift, a beautiful bag, a moment of confidence, a touch of newness, can shift everything. I’ve been a longtime (and very happy) member of the Collective. You’ll see a few of my favourite bags that I've borrowed pictured here. Over 1,000 people are already on the waitlist. DM me and we’ll get you priority access.
