Additive manufacturing is no longer just about innovation — it’s about collaboration, standardization, and building confidence at scale. In ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers)'s latest perspective on additive manufacturing, Thomas Costabile, Executive Director/CEO of ASME, highlights how the future of the industry depends on bringing together industry, education, standards development, and diverse perspectives to move the technology forward safely and reliably. That is exactly why the collaboration between ASME and Women in 3D Printing is so important. As additive manufacturing continues to scale across industries, creating space for more women and underrepresented voices in the field will be critical to driving innovation forward. Excited for what’s ahead as the additive manufacturing community continues designing the future — together. This summer, in partnership with the ASME Foundation, Women in 3D Printing, and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, we're launching a K-12 3D Printing Camp. A place where students - regardless of background, economic status, or gender, can: - turn curiosity into creativity - learn how to bring ideas to life - see, maybe for the first time, that they BELONG in this space Because the next generation of engineers doesn't just need exposure to technology: - They need access - They need belief - They need someone to invest in them before they even know how to invest in themselves Our goal is for every student to walk away thinking: "I can build something that matters, I can change the world." But, we can't do it alone. We are actively seeking support to keep this camp accessible and free for students who need it most. If you’ve ever believed in the power of opportunity… If you’ve ever wished someone had opened a door for you earlier… If you care about the future we’re building— 👉 Consider investing in the next generation of engineers - especially students from military families 👉 Consider becoming a sponsor 👉 Or simply help us by sharing this message To learn more or get involved, feel free to reach out to me directly or visit asmefoundation.org. Because these students—our future, your children—deserve the chance to dream bigger, build boldly, and realize what’s possible. Let’s give them that chance. #ASME #Womenin3DPrinting #Wi3DP #STEM #K12Education #3DPrinting #AdditiveManufacturing

"The report provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating, communicating, and deploying additive manufacturing (AM) across part, system, and enterprise levels." Read on ...
Machine Maker covered the release of our report this week. Surkund Rahul captured the core argument well — that traditional cost comparison models often fail, not because the of a limitation in the additive manufacturing technologies but because of limited framing and appropriate measurement. Funny how you can feel the energy of an event even from far away; that was definitely the case with RAPID + TCT this year for me! While I couldn’t attend in person, I’m incredibly grateful to the Women in 3D Printing community and ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) for bringing such an important conversation to the stage: “From Breakthrough to Business: What It Really Takes to Scale Additive Manufacturing.” Scaling AM is where the real challenge lies: moving beyond innovation into sustainable, impactful businesses. And this panel brought together leaders who are living that journey every day. A big thank you to the amazing panelists: Cassie (Cassandra) Lowell Dr. Nicole Black, PhD Kristin Mulherin Ali Forsyth PhD And to the wonderful moderators and #Wi3DP Boston ambassadors: Mandy Rosengren Rachael Enfield Thank you for continuing to elevate the conversation and push our industry forward, even for those of us following along remotely. Looking forward to catching up on all the insights and (hopefully) being back in person next time! 🚀
