Companies have made meaningful progress in expanding mental health resources for employees. But despite increased investment, outcomes aren’t improving at the same pace. Why? Because employees aren’t just stressed — they’re increasingly disengaged and re-evaluating what they expect from work and from their employers. Too often, organizations focus on treating the symptoms instead of addressing the day-to-day workplace culture that shapes the employee experience. Mental health support can’t just live in benefits packages or awareness campaigns. It has to show up in workplace norms, leadership behaviors, communication practices, workload expectations, and how people experience work every day.
