This family friendly event was designed to demonstrate that public service doesn’t stop when employment with our federal agencies/contractors ends. Thanks to our community, our volunteers: 🪥 Assembled 120 essentials kits to Ward 2 Mutual Aid for our unhoused neighbors 🍫 Arranged 40 snack bags to Friendship Place for our unhoused neighbors 🎂 Prepared 20 Birthday Cake Party kits to the Harriet Tubman Women’s shelter for women and families 📚 Packed 50 books from RIF NOVA plus encouragements cards to United Way for middle school children ✍️ Provided words of encouragement and hope on more than 25 poems written by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth through Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop 🤝 Our thanks to our donors and to Red Panda Art Studio, Clayboy’s Shave Ice, and Shaw’s Tavern for donating funds, supplies, and food that made this event possible. I remember how inspired and supported I felt after your first event, and I'm continually inspired by your stellar example of warm, empathetic, fearless leadership. Thank you for all you do!

On March 8, over 50 adults and their families gathered at The Festival Center in Washington D.C., for a few hours of hands-on service. Organized by OneAID and we are wellfed., the event brought together current and former federal workers, contractors, friends, and families to assemble supplies for several local organizations across the city. Volunteers joined each other across several stations, each representing a different project. Thanks to donations made to OneAID, our volunteers: 🪥 Assembled 120 hygiene essential kits for Ward 2 Mutual Aid 🍫 Arranged 40 snack bags for Friendship Place, which supports unhoused neighbors along with Ward 2 Mutual Aid 🎂 Prepared 20 birthday cake kits for families staying at the Harriet Tubman Women’s Shelter through Catholic Charities so children celebrating birthdays there can still celebrate their birthdays with something special 📚 Sorted and packed over 50 books donated by Reading Is Fundamental Northern Virginia (RIF NOVA), pairing them with handwritten encouragement cards for middle school students served by United Way of the National Capital Area.  ✍ Provided words of encouragement and hope on over 25 poems written by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated youth through Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop.
