Founded by public employees and dedicated to the common good. The credit union for Washington.

About us

WSECU was founded in 1957 as a small, community-driven credit union for Washington State employees. Today, WSECU membership is offered to all Washington residents. We have more than 300,000 members, 23 branches, and manage more than $5 billion in member assets. WSECU is committed to helping our members get to where they want to go, which is why we've created a comprehensive and convenient suite of financial services — and we've made them accessible from wherever our members happen to be. We're a not-for-profit cooperative credit union, and we belong to our members, which means that we listen to them — really listen to them. We believe in doing what's right by them every time, even when it's not necessarily what's easy for us. Our goal is to provide support to our community while looking to the future and building something of lasting value for our members. The innovative spirit that helped us get started more than 60 years ago is still alive and well. What's it like to work with us? Our employees say that working with us feels like being part of a close-knit community, united by shared values and a passion for exceptional member service. We look out for one another because we believe that when one of us succeeds, we all do. Sound like your kind of place? Let’s build something enduring together. WSECU is federally insured by the NCUA | Equal Housing Opportunity.

  • 🌺 Celebrating AANHPI Heritage Month 🌏 This May we’re proud to observe Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, recognizing the rich histories, vibrant cultures and vital contributions of AANHPI communities across the nation and in the Pacific Northwest. AANHPI individuals have played a huge role in shaping the story of America — from building the transcontinental railroad to breaking barriers in science, the arts, business and public service, the AANHPI community continues to inspire generation after generation. That inspiration is truly all around us. Many prominent AANHPI community members are based in Washington state. Here are just a few: 🎨 Louie Gong, founder of Eighth Generation and a Nooksack tribal member of Chinese and Scottish descent. A renowned Coast Salish artist and activist, he is a leading voice in the mixed-race experience movement. 👗 Luly Yang, a Taiwanese-American fashion designer and entrepreneur behind Luly Yang Couture. Known for designing uniforms for Alaska Airlines and Amazon, she’s earned top awards in the apparel industry. 📚 Ron Chew, Filipino-American historian and former director of Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience in Seattle. He expanded the museum’s reach and has made major contributions to community-based arts and AANHPI heritage preservation in the region. • Ever get a text saying there was some kind of problem with your “recent delivery,” your digital payment service or online shopping account, or even a toll — with instructions to click a link or call to resolve the issue? You’ve probably been the target of smishing — phishing attacks sent via text messaging. Hackers pretend to be companies to steal your login information, redirect you to fake login pages, or even send one-time passwords intended for your phone to different devices. Be on the lookout for these and other smishing scams to safeguard your info. If you see them, delete them immediately.

🏀 Retirement planning driving you mad? A winning bracket = SWISH! 💰 Filling out your bracket takes strategy, smart picks and the ability to adjust when upsets happen — just like planning for retirement! Here’s how to take your best shot at a winning retirement bracket. 🏆 The Financial Final Four: 🏀 Savings vs. Spending — Play defense by saving, but don’t miss the chance to enjoy life’s slam dunks. 🏀 Stocks vs. Bonds — A strong team has both scorers and defenders — balance risk and stability in your starting lineup. 🏀 401(k) vs. IRA — These are your MVPs! Make sure they’re working together for your retirement championship. 🏀 Early Retirement vs. Delayed Retirement — Go for a fast break or run out the clock — the best choice depends on your game plan. Just like on the court, life comes with bricks and surprises — job changes, market swings and unexpected costs. Having a flexible playbook keeps you in the game!

Spring is all about cycles and we have some member-favorite staff making big changes in March. Tammy Tweedy is retiring after 21 years at Spokane Division, and Sheri Bickle is retiring after 50 (FIFTY!) years at Martin Way. In a powerful full-circle moment, Sheri is being succeeded by Melissa Galiasso, whom Sheri HERSELF hired 23 years ago. We thank these women for their invaluable contributions to our org, and wish them all the best on their new paths.

Happy International Women’s Day! Did you know IWD was inspired by the industrial suffragette movements of the United States and Europe in the early 20th century? Did you also know that credit unions played a role in women’s financial rights? For example, credit unions were among the first institutions to allow women to open their own accounts. IWD is now a global day that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of women and calls for equality where needed. We’re on your side. Let's continue to push forward.
