  • Hill’s Pet Nutrition has released the 2026 State of the Shelter Pet Adoption report, with a focus on large dogs. Using data from the ASPCA’s Shelter Animals Count, the report found that large dogs (classified as 55 pounds and larger) face disproportionate barriers to adoption, resulting in longer shelter stays on average. The report also highlights opportunities for shelters and advocates to increase large dog adoptions, exploring successful programs and initiatives. • These days, home delivery alone is no longer enough to stay competitive — veterinary practices need to think more holistically. Our solutions are better together, allowing practices to: ➡️ Do more in less time. Write a script and place the order in less than a minute, reconnect with lapsed clients without lifting a finger, and make sure your data works for you (instead of the other way around). ➡️ Stay connected and keep clients loyal. Make life easier by communicating in a way that works for both clients and staff (whether it’s text, chat, or email), enabling online appointment and refill requests, and rewarding loyalty. ➡️ Go beyond the exam room. Maintain the connection with clients post-visit via product and service reminders, marketing outreach, and treatment recommendation emails. Learn more at vetsource.com.

  • Meet Heather Allman, practice marketing manager on the Vetsource marketing team, based in Colorado. Heather has been with Vetsource for 5 years, including a previous position with Vet2Pet before they merged with Vetsource. She has also been a registered veterinary technician (RVT) since 2004, and her deep industry roots help inform her work. Today, she continues to practice part-time at a clinic she helped build. We asked Heather how her time as a RVT has influenced her Vetsource experience.“Working in both clinic and marketing keeps me closely connected to the realities of practice life,” she shared. “I love translating those real-world challenges into practical, data-driven solutions, always thinking about how a resource will truly fit into a team’s day-to-day workflow. My goal is to create tools that genuinely support veterinary teams, strengthen client relationships, and help practices grow sustainably.” Here are a few of Heather’s recent projects that help her achieve this goal: ✅ The Practice Toolkit: Led a recent overhaul of the Practice Toolkit — free resources designed to help practices succeed — that resulted in a massive surge in traffic. ✅ Data-driven marketing: Implemented in-depth promo code tracking to measure the effectiveness and gain insight into how clinics leverage resources. ✅ Innovation: Spearheaded the new practice collateral store, migrated our associate brand store, and led a partnership with Veteos for custom client education videos. Heather’s unique perspective as both a marketer and an RVT ensures our tools truly serve the veterinary community in the best way possible. We’re grateful for her incredible contributions!

  • Starting on July 1, incoming U.S. veterinary students face a new $200,000 federal loan cap, a figure significantly lower than the median cost of most colleges when living costs are accounted for. It is anticipated that students may turn to private lenders to make up the difference in borrowing amount and cost of attendance. These lenders often require stricter credit checks and offer fewer flexible repayment options than federal programs. Veterinary Industry Summary March 1-7, 2026 #vetmed #veterinarydata

  • Vetsource associate Avery recently took a day to volunteer with The Sanneh Foundation, an incredible organization that runs a weekly food drive for residents of the Twin Cities facing food insecurity. "Being able to take a day off work and spend it volunteering means I can show up for my community and pay it forward," says Avery, who has worked with the organization for three years, packaging and distributing food boxes to families who need support. During her most recent volunteer day, her efforts helped over 200 families access vital food resources. Avery’s commitment truly embodies the spirit of giving back. #volunteer
