Rails World 2025 wrapped on Friday and what a blast it was being there. If you missed it, keep an eye on this playlist for the videos when they drop (https://lnkd.in/e9-HFqqa) - the talks were fantastic. Chris Power did an amazing job co-emcee'ing with Harriet Oughton, and we loved getting to connect with so many people from the community throughout the event. These conversations always remind us why we're passionate about this space. A highlight for us though? David Heinemeier Hansson calling us a bastard during his opening keynote for inspiring Omarchy (https://lnkd.in/emqvFgxc). It's a perfect example of how engaging with something that genuinely interests you can have a huge impact. We'll take it. Here are some pictures from the event, though they really can't capture the energy of an event that somehow always exceeds expectations. Kudos to Amanda Perino for pulling it off yet again. Oh and what a cool spot for an afterparty at the STRAAT museum. We'll see you next year in Austin!

  • This captures something we're seeing everywhere lately - developers ready to make the jump to tools like Vim instead of waiting for 'someday.' 'Why not now?' hits different when the learning curve isn't as steep as you thought. Love seeing this kind of confidence building through our interactive approach.

What a amazing experience it was - learning vim from Typecraft is on another level. How easy it is. After this short interactive course any person may have enough confidence to master vim keys. Thanks Typecraft for this amazing course. Every developer must learn Vim, after a while we have to move from nano to vim at some point. Why not now? https://lnkd.in/guKHaD63

If you follow my channel, you know I've used Arch (btw) and Hyprland for my dev environment. We even did a video series on it ! (https://lnkd.in/gi9_rva5) But it's not for everyone. Why? Because the learning curve can be daunting. It's not a turnkey OS that you jump into and immediately get productive. No, it's configuring a lot of things first. That's part of the power...but it's also part of what keeps people from trying it out. Well, it was until a few weeks ago when David Heinemeier Hansson spent 40-50 hours putting together his opinionated Arch + Hyprland setup, Omarchy. Now you can get some amazing defaults as you dip your toe into it. So if you've been hearing about Arch and Hyprland, tiling window managers and leaving your mouse to gather dust, give Omarchy a try. https://lnkd.in/gW43-Q66 Drop a comment if you've tried Omarchy - what worked well for you? Any gotchas for newcomers?
