Our Spring mentees are wrapping up their Titmouse tenure this week and we are v weepy 😭 Please meet another of our hard-working, curious and super talented artists, #Kiff storyboard mentee Katie Wilson! 🐦 Tell us about yourself! ✏️ Hi! I’m Katie, a story artist from the San Jose area, currently based in LA. I love to board for projects that are adventurous, actiony, or whimsical. Whether the story is lighthearted or spooky, I’m always trying to have fun with my work. I especially enjoy working with music! Outside of art, I’m super passionate about animal rescue + I’m a fan of punk/rock music and go to as many concerts as I can. 🐦 What interested you about this opportunity? ✏️ I love storyboarding, so the opportunity to learn from the best at Titmouse was super interesting! I really appreciated that this program was open to anyone, not just students. It is really inspiring to see that Titmouse cares about the next generation of upcoming artists. 🐦 How did you go about securing this mentorship? ✏️ Persistence!! Persistence + more persistence!! I applied to this mentorship 4+ times before I got it. You never know when you will match with the right mentor or the right show or when luck will turn in your favor. So just keep applying to things. You don’t have to wait until your work feels “perfect” to apply. :)" 🐦 How has the program compared to your expectations? ✏️ It's totally surprised me how much I was affected by just seeing people walk around the office. It's my first in-person industry experience, so to know that all these professionals are here & have real jobs is inspiring. I’ve loved being able to sit in all types of meetings- story pitches, writers room, voice records, etc. It has also been really exciting to have 1:1 meetings with professionals & hear their words of encouragement. I’ll leave this experience with tons of motivation and excitement for the future! 🐦 Anything else to add? ✏️ I’m super grateful to the Kiff team for being so welcoming and kind. I have so much respect & admiration for everyone at this studio. Thanks so much to @rachel_recruits & @ally.gn for bringing me on. And I very much appreciate the giant La Croix fridge <3
