  • Leadership is more than a title. For these eight women, it’s a daily mission. This Women's History Month, the NSLS is proud to celebrate members whose work is creating measurable change: passing trauma-informed legislation, launching global education initiatives, building platforms for workplace equity, and funding community healing. Their stories are a reminder that leadership development isn’t theoretical. It shapes what people go on to do in the world. Swipe to meet eight women building a better one. #theNSLS #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenLeaders #WomenInLeadership

  • Roadblocks won’t disappear. But your “why” is what will conquer them.  For Women’s History Month, entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author Amy Porterfield reminds us what it means to stay strong when things get hard.  As a woman in the business world, her path wasn’t without resistance. But her mindset and operating principle helped her build a career from scratch, overcoming obstacles every step of the way. Today, we celebrate the women who are pushing through any roadblock in front of them.  What's the “why” that keeps you going? #theNSLS #WomensHistoryMonth

  • Goals become more achievable when they’re visible, structured, and revisited regularly. Technology gives leaders practical ways to stay organized, build consistency, and track progress over time. Whether it’s planning deadlines, setting reminders, or visualizing small wins, the right tools can support meaningful growth. What productivity tool has made the biggest difference for you? #theNSLS

  • Financial barriers are one of the leading reasons students leave college before completing their degree. NSLS scholarships exist to help members stay the course. Today, Friday, March 20, is the final day to apply for Spring 2026 scholarship funds you can use for tuition, books, or other school expenses. Recipients announced April 28. • The most productive people aren't always the ones doing the most. In a recent NSLS Speaker Broadcast, Kelly Ripa spoke about a habit that shifted how she works and lives: one hour a day, set aside for herself alone. A walk. A full meal. An exercise class. Whatever restored her. For students balancing coursework, jobs, and everything in between, that principle applies just as much. Rest isn't the absence of productivity; it's what makes sustained performance possible. What does your daily hour (or hours) look like for your Spring Break? #theNSLS

  • The St. Lawrence University NSLS chapter is gaining new momentum on campus. The chapter hosted a recent tabling event that quickly generated strong interest among students. More than 30 students requested invitations to join the chapter, and 14 students expressed interest in becoming ambassadors. It’s a powerful reminder that rebuilding momentum often begins with simply reaching out, starting conversations, and creating opportunities for others to get involved. Congratulations to the St. Lawrence chapter for helping spark renewed enthusiasm for leadership and connection on campus. #theNSLS

I stopped telling myself I was “too much.” And I stopped trying to be the “nice guy” all the time. It’s uncomfortable to admit that. For most of my life, I’ve prided myself on being empathetic. Understanding. Patient. The leader who listens first and pushes later. But now, leading 350+ members in the NSLS - Lehigh University Chapter, has forced me to confront something: Empathy without execution doesn’t transform anyone. When I first formed my executive board - brainstorming, vision-casting, and planning - my natural leadership style worked great. 👉 Big ideas. Open dialogue. Shared ownership. But when it came time to implement? Deadlines got closer. Follow-ups were needed. Standards had to be raised. Momentum had to be protected. And suddenly, the version of leadership the situation required felt… different. More direct. More persistent. More “pushy.” At times, I worried: 🧐 Am I becoming annoying? 🧐 Am I losing my kindness? 🧐 Am I drifting away from who I am? But then I remembered something bigger than my comfort. 350+ students at Lehigh University invested their time. Their energy. And even their own money. They didn’t join to stay the same. They joined to grow. And that’s when it hit that situational leadership is REAL — not just a topic section in my classes. The leader I needed to be in the planning phase is not the leader I now need to be in execution. 👉 Vision requires openness. Implementation requires decisiveness. I’m learning that kindness and firmness are not opposites. You can care deeply about people and still demand excellence ✅. You can be empathetic and still hold the line ✅. You can feel uncomfortable and still know you’re doing the right thing ✅. The hardest part hasn’t been pushing others. It’s been confronting my own insecurity — the fear of being disliked 😣, of being “too much 😣", of stepping outside the version of myself that feels safe 😣. But purpose makes discomfort easier. 👉My purpose is this: Everyone I meet should leave a better version of themselves after we've exchanged hi's and bye's. Not because I was agreeable or “nice” ❌. But because I was intentional. Because I cared enough to expect more. Growth rarely feels gentle. But it is worth it 🤞. And sometimes, the most empathetic thing you can do… is refuse to lower the standard. To everyone leading teams and embracing discomfort. I see you. I know it isn't easy. But you're doing the right thing. You got this! #LeadershipLessons #SituationalLeadership #PersonalGrowth #Discomfort #theNSLS #Purpose #Meaning #PersonalReflections #SelfAwareness #Growth
