Today, we launch the Susan Wojcicki Foundation.
Susan was many things—a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She was also a technology leader who helped shape the modern internet. But above all, she was defined by her curiosity, generosity, and deep care for others.
In 2022, at age 54, Susan was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. She had no smoking history or other known risk factors, no respiratory symptoms, and no warning signs. Like so many others, it was something she never saw coming.
True to her spirit of innovation and collaboration, Susan spent her remaining two years uniting scientists, advocates, and industry leaders, building a research portfolio spanning immunotherapy, cancer vaccines, and the biological drivers of the disease.
Through that work she came to understand two things: earlier detection could save lives, and her story was far from unique.
The Susan Wojcicki Foundation carries forward her vision—investing in science, partnerships, and innovation to advance earlier detection and ensure fewer lives are lost because lung cancer was found too late.
