About us
The Climate Pledge is a cross-sector community of companies, organizations, individuals, and partners, working together to crack the climate crisis and solve the challenges of decarbonizing our economy. Bringing together those that are prepared to run the furthest and fastest, The Climate Pledge calls on signatories to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040—10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement. Amazon co-founded the Climate Pledge with Global Optimism in 2019, and became the first signatory of the pledge. Currently, the Climate Pledge has 500+ signatories from diverse business sectors including transport, aviation, energy, real estate, software, and more.

It was a big Climate Week NYC for the Electrifying Drayage Alliance (EDA). 🚛⚡ We officially launched the EDA 2030 Roadmap for the Ports of New York and New Jersey—a practical pathway toward enabling at least 300 battery-electric drayage trucks in the region by 2030. Throughout the week, we brought together leaders from across the freight industry to talk about what it will take to turn that roadmap into action: —> At the EDA NY-NJ Coalition Working Session, members moved straight into implementation, identifying early deployment opportunities, discussing the conditions needed to make them successful, and beginning to organize into workstreams focused on demand, carrier readiness, charging infrastructure, ports and terminals, and market support. The immediate focus: identifying three to five high-utilization lanes that could support early deployments in 2027. —> During a Smart Freight Centre fireside chat, The Climate Pledge’s Sally Fouts (Zwartjes) joined Tom Fisher of C.H. Robinson, Jennie Abarca of King Fio Trucking, LLC, and Derek Turbide of Greenlane™ Infrastructure to continue the conversation around scaling electric drayage. —> And at The Climate Pledge Hub, Coast to Coast: The Electric Freight Playbook brought together Jennie Abarca of King Fio Trucking, Adam Browning of Forum Mobility, Christopher Diamond of The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, and Adam Orth of Siemens US to share lessons from electric freight deployment in Los Angeles and explore how they can help accelerate progress in New York and New Jersey. One thing came through across every conversation: no one company can scale electric drayage alone. It takes coordination across freight demand, carriers, charging, port operations, financing, and policy. Getting those pieces moving together is exactly what EDA is working to do. If your organization wants to help accelerate electric drayage in New York, New Jersey and beyond, now is the time to join the Electrifying Drayage Alliance. https://bit.ly/4hUjZNN

Goals matter. Action matters more. Today, we’re launching The Climate Pledge Report, a new look at the progress, impact, and collective action taking place across our global community of more than 700 companies working toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The report shows a community that continues to grow, signatories that are decarbonizing faster than their peers, and companies working together to tackle some of the toughest barriers to progress. There is still hard work ahead. But the path to 2040 was never going to be linear, and the goal remains firmly in sight. The Climate Pledge Beauty Summit Series has officially gone global. 🇯🇵 Last week, we brought the series to Tokyo for our first international Beauty Summit, co-hosted with DAMDAM Tokyo founders Giselle Go and Philippe Terrien. Leaders from across beauty, sustainability, and government came together to share ideas and explore how the industry can accelerate progress toward a more sustainable future with conversations grounded in the unique context of Japan’s beauty market. The day covered everything from credible product certifications to the role of commerce in helping customers discover more sustainable products. A policy discussion with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government also explored how the public and private sectors can work together to advance shared sustainability goals. Tokyo marks the third stop this year in our Beauty Summit Series, following convenings in New York and Los Angeles earlier this year. Each one has brought together a different mix of perspectives, challenges, and ideas while building a growing community of beauty brands working toward a more sustainable future. Next stop: Climate Week NYC. 🌎
