Today, we honor Sandra Warshaw Freedman for her impactful contributions to the City of Tampa. Twice elected as Tampa's mayor, Sandra opened a new City Convention Center, opened The Florida Aquarium, instituted a city-wide recycling program and water conservation program, initiated the award-winning annual Hillsborough River clean-up program and restored Bayshore Boulevard. USF alums Andy and Eileen Hafer are establishing the Hafer Targeted Help for Rising Innovators and Venture Expansion, or THRIVE, Entrepreneurship Program. 📣BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 Lions World Vision Institute has officially completed the closing of its new 30,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Vision Health Center, scheduled to open in March 2027! 🙌 LWVI’s Vision Health Center will expand to bring comprehensive vision services together under one roof, including screenings, diagnostics, treatment, and community-based programs. 🧱 Located directly across the street from LWVI’s Ybor City campus, the center is expected to serve more than 20,000 children and adolescents each year by providing free vision screenings and access to prescription glasses for those in need. 👓 LWVI expects the Vision Health Center to serve as a national model for accessible, pediatric focused vision care — demonstrating how nonprofit innovation, research and community partnerships can close long-standing gaps in healthcare access. ❤️ The closing of LWVI's Vision Health Center was made possible with the assistance of Florida Community Loan Fund who provided $14 million in Federal NMTCs and Truist Bank who provided an additional $2 million in Federal NMTCs for the new center. 👏👏👏 🌐To learn more about this transformational project, please visit https://lnkd.in/eEVrkM4v --- #SoTheWorldCanSee #LWVI #LionsWorldVisionInstitute #NMTC #VisionHealthCenter #Pediatric #Healthcare #YborCity #Tampa #TampaBay
