About us

A rapidly growing company of engineers, inventors, and aviators that is changing the way the world flies. Our Story Tamarack Aerospace Group was founded with one mission in mind: to provide real-world step change advancement in aerospace efficiency technology. Our story starts with Tamarack founder Nick Guida, a seasoned professional in the field of aerospace and spirited entrepreneur. Guida was convinced of a way to improve aircraft efficiency and sustainability without aerodynamic compromise. In 2009, he conceptualized the idea that led to the creation of ATLAS load alleviation technology and Active Winglets. The company grew through a six year development and certification process that included hundreds of hours of test flights on numerous testbed aircraft. In 2015, the aviation world changed when the first set of Active Winglets was installed on a Citation CJ1. Tamarack has now expanded from our headquarters in Sandpoint, Idaho, and now operates in additional transformation centers in Aiken, South Carolina and Oxford, UK. Today, we hold more than 30 patents as we continue to pioneer new aviation innovations, as well as continually enhance our current products, supporting our growing international fleet of aircraft. Our Leadership Team Tamarack was born from a passion to make flying better and bring science-driven innovation to aircraft owners around the world. Our team makes us what we are today - passionate, inquisitive experts in our field. From pilots to engineers, to our network of suppliers across the US, we are on a mission to make aviation more efficient and sustainable. Our Services We design, build, and install Active Winglets at our international Transformation Centers. With fleet training and support infrastructure through a network of Service Centers, we’re ready to help your team achieve maximum flight efficiency.

  • Thinking about adding winglets to your aircraft? It starts with understanding how you actually fly. From everyday missions to edge cases, we take the time to learn what matters most to you, then help you decide if it truly makes sense. No pressure. Just real conversations and real data. Your aircraft has more to give. Give us a call at 208-255-4400, or just send us a DM.

  • This is what your aircraft's aerodynamics actually look like. Not the manufacturer's published performance charts. Not the flight manual numbers based on standard conditions. The real pressure distribution, the actual separation behavior, the true drag contributors, visible and quantifiable. High-fidelity CFD and performance modeling does two things well. First, it optimizes design decisions before hardware is built. Second, it validates flight characteristics against analysis, which is increasingly what regulators expect to see in a certification package. We use Luminary Cloud CFD and proven aerodynamic analysis methods on platforms ranging from general aviation modifications to emerging UAM configurations. If you're making design decisions based on handbook estimates when high-fidelity analysis is available, you're leaving performance on the table and accepting uncertainty you don't have to. • “The same trip… just no longer on the edge.” That’s how Scott Sayre describes flying with Tamarack Active Winglets. More fuel margin. Fewer stops. Greater confidence on every mission. Because performance isn’t just about going farther, it’s about reducing the stress that comes with getting there. Your aircraft has more to give.

  • Loads and flutter are the disciplines most programs think about last. They should think about them first. The loads that an aircraft experiences across its operating envelope determine the structural design. Flutter analysis determines whether the aircraft is stable at all conditions within, and beyond, that envelope. If the loads data is wrong, the structure is either overbuilt (expensive) or underbuilt (dangerous). If flutter clearance hasn't been properly established, the FAA certification basis isn't met. The visualization in this image is what loads development actually looks like, a full understanding of where stress concentrates, under what conditions, at what magnitudes. That data drives design decisions. We deliver proven loads development and flutter analysis for programs across Part 23, 25, 27, and 29 platforms. If you're at a stage in your program where loads and flutter haven't been formally addressed, that's the stage to address them. • Some missions are limited by payload. On a 1.1-hour trip, a typical CJ2 might carry three passengers comfortably. With Tamarack Active Winglets, operators can gain up to 800 lb of additional payload, opening the door to more passengers, more flexibility, and more capability on the same mission. Your aircraft has more to give.

  • Clean-sheet aircraft design looks different depending on who's running it. Some teams optimize for performance. Some optimize for manufacturability. The best teams optimize for all of it, and they do it with one question running in the background at every stage: "Will this certify?" Configuration layout isn't just geometry. Trade studies aren't just spreadsheets. Every decision made at the concept stage either opens or closes options in the certification process two years later. At Tamarack, aircraft design and development work is grounded in that reality. We've designed systems that went through FAA certification, and we know exactly where the expensive surprises come from when design teams don't account for the regulatory path early. If you're starting a new aircraft program or a major modification, the time to think about certification is now, not after the preliminary design review.
