Attention to detail is crucial in real automation and art like THIS👏 I couldn’t just walk by this display from Symbotic for a few reasons. One, I’m working on my own art display for the plastics industry. Two, THEY HAD igus Inc. E-CHAIN on the machine!!! They could’ve left it out, they could’ve cut corners, but where is the fun in that? What does an end to end automation system look like in practice? I sat down with David Clear at MODEX to find out. Symbotic has been developing inside one of the top wholesale grocers over the last 15 years to deliver end to end automation and efficiency for themselves, now they're bringing that automation out to the broader market. As part of our ASRS deep dive with ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) Industry Group of MHI we discussed how their solution is applying to industries and companies outside of the one it was originally developed for. Their system requires minimal manual intervention with the ASRS serving in the middle of the operations both handling native case storage and now breakpack functionality for each handling as well. In the clip below, David describes how this works and how it helps automate the space in between inbound and outbound to create an efficient flow of goods from one end of the operation to the other.
