Anyone can build community. Over the past few weeks, I've had conversations with founders and community leaders who didn't set out to necessarily build what they built. For many, they started with a simple need: - To make new friends after everyone moved away. - To get through a difficult time. - To create space where they felt truly welcome. - To become a better version of themselves. - To find joy in activities that actually resonated. What amazes me most is how these personal needs evolved into something more: an invitation for others to experience the same, together. They grew into thriving communities that serve hundreds, or even thousands of people. You don't need to have a huge plan, special credentials, or massive resources. Sometimes all you need is to invite others along for the ride.

AHH! I’m excited to share that I’ve joined SweatPals as Community Success Manager, where I’ll be supporting the growth of the platform’s most well-loved communities. If you know me, you know how much I light up around community-building—especially when it brings people together in real life, not just through screens. SweatPals has been instrumental in helping me build and host my own community of volleyball lovers - so I’m (more than) pumped to work alongside the incredible team at SweatPals and to work alongside fellow community founders to help more people, find their people.

Such a fun event and it wasn’t just a success in person! ⚡️ We sold out all 100 spots on SweatPals within one week of announcing. Across just two Instagram posts, we saw 35k accounts reached, 785 likes and 160 shares. Looking forward to the next one!
Will Run for Fries? ALWAYS!🍟🏃♂️ Ampersand Running Club teamed up with sweetgreen Fort Worth to celebrate the launch of Ripple Fries with a community run and post-run social. Runners gathered at Sweetgreen, conveniently located next to the Trinity Trails, for a 3.5 mile run before returning to enjoy complimentary Ripple Fries and discounted bowls. Making 100 fries to serve all at once is no small task and we’re incredibly grateful to the Sweetgreen team for welcoming us in. ARC has built something truly one-of-a-kind in Fort Worth and it’s amazing to see brands and businesses opening their arms to partner with us.

Over the past few weeks, Mandi and I have been fully immersed in the a16z speedrun program for SweatPals. We’ve worked alongside incredible founders building the next generation of startups, worked 1:1 with Andrew Chen and Robin Guo, and learned from industry legends like Tony Xu, Dylan Field, Scott Belsky, and more. Last week, we presented our progress to the SPEEDRUN community and received additional feedback from Andrew Lee, Jonathan Lai, Troy Kirwin, and many others. Serendipitous encounters while coworking in the SPEEDRUN office also brought us great advice about SweatPals from Sam Shank, cofounder of HotelTonight. With the support of Andrew Chen, Robin Guo, and Jordan Mazer, we recently added an important asset to our team by bringing on a top growth expert. Since January, we’ve seen our monthly GMV and user growth skyrocket by over 65%. It’s no accident: SPEEDRUN has sharpened our focus and sparked fresh clarity, fueling our momentum like never before. I’m beyond grateful for the energy and support we’ve found here and to the entire team at a16z speedrun. The future of SweatPals has never been brighter. Working as an early-stage investor is an extremely privileged role, and the best part of the job is seeing audacious founders turn their vision into reality. This morning, I got to experience that firsthand with Salar Shahini and Mandi Zhou at a SweatPals event in San Francisco. What started as a simple idea in Austin — connecting people through fitness — has quickly grown into a thriving, global community. For me, running alongside 200+ early risers wasn’t just about exercise, it was about witnessing talented entrepreneurs in action, turning their mission into a movement (literally 🏃♂️). Grateful to kick off the weekend with this energy, and grateful that Pear VC gets to play a supporting role in the SweatPals journey. There's nothing like watching ambitious founders hit their stride!
