On Monday February 23, City Council unanimously approved $30 million over two years for the Springfield Art Museum’s renovation — a major milestone for our community. Funding comes from the voter-approved Spring Forward SGF sales tax, which dedicates ½ cent to neighborhood, street, and park improvements through the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan. As part of that vision, this funding will allow the long-planned project to move directly forward, completing museum upgrades that support arts access, education, and cultural tourism. I can't wait to share this year's "All School Exhibition" with our community! Beginning Feb. 27, approximately 400 student artworks from 57 school sites will fill Missouri State University's Brick City Gallery. As the art instructors who work with these students know, art is a powerful educational tool. In addition to creativity and self-expression, the arts teach problem solving, critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration. The "All School Exhibition" highlights the importance of arts education and honors the accomplishments of young artists from across our community. The exhibition also reflects the work of the incredibly talented teachers in our community, many of whom are practicing artists themselves. This exhibition is free and open to the public and runs through April 5. More info in comments.

After decades of service, the Museum's current Executive Assistant, Tyra, is retiring — and we’re looking for someone ready to step into a meaningful, high-impact role supporting the Museum’s leadership and mission. This role provides high-level administrative support to the Director, coordinates department financial processing and budget monitoring, prepares correspondence and reports, manages confidential matters, and helps keep the Museum operating smoothly every day, in addition to other tasks. The Springfield Art Museum will receive $30 million over the next two years if Springfield City Council approves a recommendation of its Citizens’ Advisory Board. The CAB – the council-appointed body tasked with making recommendations to spend a half-cent, 10-year Spring Forward SGF sales tax – unanimously voted yesterday to recommend $15 million in funding for fiscal year 2027 and another $15 for fiscal 2028 for the art museum.  Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gNqEidfy
