How do you get AI recommend your software? You need to make sure AI knows the product, understands when and what for it is used who it competes with. This knowledge comes in two pieces: training data (models are trained periodically) and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation - search that happens real-time). What I knew is that review sires and software directories are used for both - training (depending on policies) and search. What I did not know and learned last week from Logan Abbott is that review platform SourceForge provides training data for all AI labs; and that it sits in the 99th percentile across the AI-bot-scraped web - more AI bot traffic than any other publisher on the internet - according to TollBit's data. Last month, SourceForge was scraped 100M+ times by Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity and others. What this means is very simple - a lot of what AI knows about software products and what it finds, comes from SourceForge. It may mention it as a source of knowledge or not - does not matter - the data is from there. And here we come to the moment when as marketers we have to think of AI as of a separate audience. How humans perceive a platform, its target demographics, its UI and what not is not relevant to AI audience. AI cares for authority, structure, density, breadth, and verified and authentic user reviews. Now, when was the last time you looked at your SourceForge listing? Everything you did not know you needed to know about SourceForge in the new @Blastra guide https://lnkd.in/d6RH5T2S
