We started SXSW off with a bang 💥 Last Friday we had the honor of co-hosting MATCH HOUSE Founder x Investor Day at Pershing Hall alongside Jonny Boyarsky, Mahesh Narayanan, and Shawheen A.! 🙌 The lineup was stacked: Bill Gurley (Benchmark), Kleida Martiro (Glasswing Ventures), Arzu Tekir (Treeo VC), Tyler Denk 🐝 (beehiiv), Martin Tobias (Incisive Ventures), and more. The kind of day that makes you wish SXSW was every week. A few moments I'm still thinking about: → Bill Gurley shared that a colleague told him he no longer wants to make 10-year VC bets - "I don't know what will exist in 10 weeks." Bill's take: predicting the future has always been the job. It's just never been this hard. → Tyler Denk on why radical transparency is his entire content strategy: "If I write about newsletters, 20K people care. If I write about building a company — every founder does." His newsletter now does $500K/year. As a side project. → The question that stopped the room: "What do you know for certain will still exist in three years?" The silence was the answer. And a personal highlight: I got a brief moment to tell Bill about what we're building at SimpleClosure, helping founders wind down their companies cleanly and compliantly. His reaction made my whole weekend. Turns out even the best VCs know that not every company makes it, and that the off-ramp matters just as much as the runway. Massive shoutout to my colleague Emily Adams for helping hold down the fort, and for making sure every VC in the room left with SimpleClosure socks and chargers. I kept spotting them in use all weekend. Best feeling. 🧦⚡ Thank you to every founder, investor, and operator who showed up. Austin, you delivered 🤠

In this episode, Dori Yona, Co-Founder and CEO of SimpleClosure, opens up about one of the hardest parts of entrepreneurship, the point where belief, pressure, and reality collide. He shares what he learned from building Earny Inc. to millions of users, facing the possibility of shutting it down, and navigating the weight that comes with those decisions. We talk about founder identity, the lessons failure can teach that success never will, why speed is still one of the biggest startup advantages, and why ruthless prioritization matters more than most people think. • 👀 A heads up for business owners. A scam notice is making the rounds. It's from a fake agency called "Tax Assessment Procedures Domestic Judgment Registry" and threatens seizure of assets over a fabricated balance. One of our customers received it this week. These notices are intentionally designed to cause panic, so here are a few ways you can stay diligent: → Real tax agencies do not send cold "FINAL DEMAND" mailers with phone numbers to call → Always verify notices through your official state tax authority → If something feels off, pause before responding If you ever receive something like this while closing your business, we're happy to help you sort through it.

  • For too long, shutting down a company meant navigating a maze of legal, tax, and compliance requirements alone. SimpleClosure was built to change that. Our co-founder and CEO Dori Yona is joining leaders at Fintech NerdCon this fall to discuss how we help founders wind down cleanly, so they can focus on what's next. Ticket link in the post below 👇

The first players have entered the NerdCon arena 🏟️ 🎮 Michael B. Tannenbaum (Figure) — took Figure through its IPO in 2025. They just issued the first equity share class that trades natively on blockchain. Before that: CFO at #Brex. Ran the mortgage business at #SoFi. Few people in fintech have seen the stack from this many angles. Linda Du (Valon) — Co-founder and President of Valon, which now services $110B+ in loans. She’s rebuilding the mortgage servicing stack from the ground up. Linda (and her co-founder Andrew) literally serviced mortgages to understand the technology needed! Rex Salisbury (Cambrian) — built the fintech practice at #a16z before launching Cambrian. He sees hundreds of fintech startups before most people ever hear about them. Few people have a clearer view of what’s getting built. Dori Yona (SimpleClosure) — building infrastructure for something founders rarely talk about. Shutting companies down. Turning one of startups’ messiest processes into an actual product. 🔓 More builders unlocking soon 🔓 PS: Launch rate ends Friday, March 13. Tickets → https://lnkd.in/e-TgyKzm
