10 years of Shoptalk, and this one hit different. Our theme, Retail in the Age of AI, didn’t just headline the agenda; it took over every stage, every conversation, and every challenge to the status quo. From chance run-ins that turned into real partnerships to late-night debriefs that rivalled the keynotes, the moments in between proved just as powerful as what was on stage. Last week was a reminder that Shoptalk isn’t an event. It’s where the future of retail gets shaped, stress-tested, and moved forward. A few moments that made our 10th anniversary unforgettable: 🔵 The stages were packed with show-goers who came to hear from some of the most innovative leaders in retail 🔵 Tens of thousands of 1-2-1 mutually matched meetings in our Meetup sessions 🔵 NE-YO took to the stage at our beach party. The energy was high and the performance was iconic 🔵 Our Women in Retail sessions drew in crowds and gave female attendees tangible insights to take back to their businesses 🔵 100 c-suite VIP attendees gathered to kick off the show over drinks, live music and great food 🔵 Jessica Alba, Founder of The Honest Company, closed out our main stage session with Travis Katz, GM & VP, Shopping, YouTube To everyone who joined us, spoke, partnered, and showed up with openness and energy, thank you. You’re what makes Shoptalk what it is. One Shoptalk down. Three more Shoptalks to connect you with content and the world's greatest minds. Three days. Thousands of conversations. One defining theme: Retail in the Age of AI. Shoptalk Spring brought the industry together to explore how AI is reshaping every corner of commerce—from personalization and discovery to operations, marketing, and beyond. The conversations weren’t just about what’s possible, but about what’s already happening. We had packed sessions, bold perspectives and the energy on the show floor was infectious. As we close out an incredible few days, 10,000 people are leaving inspired, energized, and ready to build what comes next. Until Shoptalk Fall. 👏

  • “AI is overhyped in terms of fear, but underhyped in how fast it will impact the industry.” The Shoptalk Spring 26 key takeaways session brought together Chris Walton, President & CEO at Omni Talk Retail, Ben Miller, VP, Original Content & Strategy at Shoptalk, Sarah Engel, President at January Digital, and Joe Laszlo, Head of Insights at Shoptalk to unpack what’s actually happening in retail right now. The shift is clear. AI has moved from experimentation to real implementation, and with that comes a cultural change. Leaders are more open, more collaborative, and more willing to admit they don’t have all the answers. At the same time, the fundamentals haven’t changed. Relevance, experience, and value still define success, and physical stores remain central as hubs for connection. What is changing is how retail operates behind the scenes. Agentic commerce is gaining traction, particularly in backend automation, while AI is starting to act as both an operator and an advisor to improve how businesses run. As discovery continues to fragment across platforms like Reddit and AI-driven answers, one thing is clear. The pace of change is accelerating, and the impact will be felt sooner than many expect.

  • At Shoptalk, Elina Vilk, President & Chief Business Officer at David's Bridal Bridal, shared how the company is evolving from a traditional retailer into a tech-led wedding ecosystem. “I think about AI as a tool, not as an end state.” At the center is Pearl AI, a wedding planning “copilot” designed to reduce stress. With more than 300 micro-tasks across an 18-month journey, planning is far more complex than most tools capture. Pearl turns that complexity into a clear, personalized plan. What stands out is its specialization. Built as a domain-specific knowledge graph, it acts as an expert in wedding planning and surfaces what brides may not think to ask. A strong example of AI applied with purpose, focused on solving a real customer problem.

At Shoptalk, Matt Baer, CEO of Stitch Fix, shared a clear and practical perspective on how AI is creating real impact in retail today. The takeaway: Strong AI starts with strong data—and when combined with human expertise, it becomes a powerful driver of personalization and growth. From first-party data acting as a true competitive moat, to AI-driven personalization doubling Freestyle spend in just 90 days, the results speak for themselves. But just as important is how this is being implemented—with tools that are fast, intuitive, and genuinely improve both the customer experience and internal workflows. As LLMs begin to reshape discovery and retail moves toward true 1:1 personalization, the brands that win will be those that get the fundamentals right.

We wrapped up the main stage sessions with Jessica Alba, Founder, The Honest Company with Travis Katz, GM & VP, Shopping, YouTube.
