#Scouting changes lives. Lifelong #EagleScout Ricky Mason knows this firsthand. Earlier this month, Ricky officially became Chair of the Scouting America National Executive Board. In a new On Scouting Q&A, he shares how Scouting helped him build resilience, confidence, leadership skills and friendships that carried him through some of life’s hardest moments. He also dives into what’s ahead for #ScoutingAmerica, including a focus on volunteers, membership growth, youth retention, technology and making sure families have a strong experience from the start. Read the full Q&A now: https://ow.ly/VAE050Z5jth. For more information about Ricky and his leadership role, see the official press release on Scouting Newsroom: https://ow.ly/V5VR50Z5ju3. About us
Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is one of the largest Scouting organizations in the United States of America and one of the largest youth organizations in the United States, with more than 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers. The organization was founded in 1910, and since then, more than 110 million Americans have been participants in programs at some time. Scouting America is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922. Scouting America's goal is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations. For younger members, the Scout Method is part of the program to instill typical Scouting values such as trustworthiness, good citizenship, and outdoors skills, through a variety of activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking. In order to further these outdoor activities, Scouting America has four high-adventure bases: Northern Tier (Minnesota, Manitoba, and Ontario), Philmont Scout Ranch (New Mexico), Sea Base (Florida), and Summit Bechtel Reserve (West Virginia). The traditional Scouting divisions are Cub Scouting for children in grades K-5, Scouts BSA for youth ages 11 to 17 and Venturing and Sea Scouting for young men and women ages 14 (or 13 and having completed the 8th grade) to 20.

Every #Scout, volunteer, council and community has a story worth telling. The question is, how do we tell those stories in a way that moves people? This July, Philmont Scout Ranch Training Center will host “Story Telling: Inspire Others Through Photography and Stories” from Sunday, July 12, through Saturday, July 18. We invite ALL passionate Scouters, leaders and volunteers to join us for this course. We’ll explore motivational storytelling, smartphone photography, social media and capturing the “decisive moments” in Scouting. This weekend - and always - #ScoutingAmerica extends our deepest gratitude and recognition to all our nation’s heroes. Memorial Day reminds us of the unwavering dedication, courage and integrity that men and women in the armed forces demonstrate every day. It asks us to remember the fallen - and to continually appreciate the freedom that they lost their lives defending. To the fallen men and women of our armed forces: thank you….and thank you to the families, friends and loved ones who remember the sacrifice every single day. U.S. troops’ service exemplifies the ideals of loyalty, bravery and duty - principles that guide our #Scouts as they learn, grow and pursue their own journeys across the country, year-round. While soldiers continue to safeguard our freedoms, youth from #CubScouts to #EagleScouts stand committed to serving their communities and making a positive difference in the world. Because many Scouts - past, present and future - choose to join the armed forces later in their lives, Memorial Day proves extremely significant to Scouting America. Thank you to our fallen and active soldiers - words fail to express how thankful we are. This Memorial Day, we challenge you to think of and ponder at least one fallen soldier. Reflect on the sacrifice he or she made for you, us and the entire American people - and think how you can carry that spirit of loyalty and bravery into your own life. PS - If you did something Scouting related this Memorial Day, send it our way at Social.Media@Scouting.org for a chance to be featured. #NeverForget #AlwaysRemember #ScoutsBSA #CubScouting #Scouting #Scouts #CubScout #EagleScout #OrderoftheArrow #OA #VenturingBSA #SeaScouts

We are proud to announce the 2026 Adams Award National Winner: David C. David’s project began with a deeply personal mission. After spending much of his childhood receiving IV treatments, he knew how overwhelming the experience could be. So he set out to create something that would bring comfort, movement, and joy to young patients facing the same challenges. Over nine months, David led 223 volunteers who contributed nearly 1,200 hours to build and paint colorful “IV lily pads” — wooden platforms that fit around IV stands and help kids feel more at ease during treatment. From fruit slices to flowers to whimsical characters, each lily pad became a moment of escape for young patients at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. With a new grant, David is already building more lily pads and partnering with hospitals across the country. His project is a powerful example of what compassion and leadership can accomplish. We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to all of the territory and council Adams Award winners. Your projects, your service, and your dedication to your communities continue to inspire. Thank you everyone for representing the very best of Scouting. Scouting America reposted this
When youth spend their days hiking, swimming, climbing, learning and leading, food service becomes critical - for health, mood and to keep the adventure rolling! Upper Crust Food Service understands this well - and helps meet this need with service and a smile at Scouting America camps (and more!) across the country. Their approach is designed around the energy demands of Scouts, the needs of camp leadership and the traditions that make each camp all it is. Their team works with dietitians, trains staff for the camp environment and supports the full food-service operation from planning through post-season review. This year, Upper Crust’s engagement with #ScoutingAmerica continues to grow - in fact, Upper Crust will participate at the 2026 National Jamboree this summer as a sponsor and exhibitor! If you’re at the 2026 National Annual Meeting this week, make sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall to say “Hi!” to Upper Crust and their incredible team. To read more about Upper Crust + Scouting, check out this blog post: https://ow.ly/3gNa50YZ4Fh. P.S. - If you or your organization is interested in partnering with us to support youth, strengthen communities and creating meaningful Scouting experiences, reach out to PartnerWithUs@Scouting.org. We look forward to working together with you!

What an incredible start to a new era as National Chair of Scouting America. Ricky, we are so thankful and excited to have you. The youth of America will continue to benefit! More details on this lifelong #EagleScout's position as National Chair coming soon - keep your eyes peeled for more news soon.
Attended World Scout Foundation event in beautiful Stockholm. As incoming National Chair of Scouting America, I thought it important to plant my feet there with my wife Beth for a few days, make friends and learn about the impact of Scouting on the world’s youth. The event culminated in a formal dinner at the amazing Stockholm City Hall (site of the Nobel Prize dinners) celebrating the 80th birthday of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, who is stepping down as the Honorary Chair of the Foundation, in favor of his successor Grand Duke Guillaume V of Luxembourg, both pictured here.

Getting kids outdoors doesn't require elaborate plans. Sometimes, the best adventures start in your own backyard. On national news, Scouting America’s Patriots’ Path Council showed what's possible when we prioritize outdoor experiences for young people. These Scouts shared practical camping skills – from tent setup to pre-cooked meals – proving that screen-free time and outdoor learning are within reach for every family. Amazing moms - including people who step in for Mom (like aunts, grandmothers and more) - make society (and Scouting!) better. From leading #CubScout meetings, to taking treks with their kiddo(s) at High Adventure Bases like Philmont Scout Ranch, to helping with merit badges, to coaching and supporting youth, to so much more - great moms deserve recognition, praise and all the love. Thank you to each and every mom - inside and outside of #Scouting - who steps up, supports and brings joy to their children. We thank you not just today, but ALWAYS. From all of us at #ScoutingAmerica, happy Mother’s Day!

“Programs like Scouting create environments where kids can safely try new things, build friendships, and develop skills that will stay with them for life. Monday is simply a good moment to pause and reflect on what we want for our children—and how we can help create those opportunities for them. The future grows one child, one experience, one small moment at a time.” We could not agree more - with this entire post, in fact!
Monday Momentum: Duty, Honor, Country, and Life I was watching my regular Saturday morning news show and caught William H. McRaven in conversation with Michael Smerconish. The lead in to the segement was Scouting which immediately caught my attention. The Admiral's You Tube video illusrating the importance of Scouting is a classic. His message Saturday was simple, grounded, and deeply human. His new book, Duty, Honor, Country, and Life, reflects something many of us feel instinctively as parents and mentors: strong character doesn’t just happen—it is shaped over time through care, consistency, and meaningful experiences. For those of us connected to Scouting, this feels very familiar. The Scout Oath speaks to values we all want for our children—to do their best, to help others, to grow into kind, capable, and confident young people. It’s not about pressure or perfection. It’s about giving kids the space to try, to learn, and to become. What Admiral McRaven reminds us, in his own way, is that the little things matter. The habits formed early. The encouragement they receive. The opportunities they are given to step up, even when it feels a bit uncomfortable. And here’s what we continue to see: when children are supported, challenged in the right ways, and surrounded by people who believe in them—they grow. They gain confidence. They find their voice. They surprise us. That’s why I remain so optimistic. Programs like Scouting create environments where kids can safely try new things, build friendships, and develop skills that will stay with them for life. Monday is simply a good moment to pause and reflect on what we want for our children—and how we can help create those opportunities for them. The future grows one child, one experience, one small moment at a time. Have a great week. Sean https://lnkd.in/gAGxRcHY
