About us
The human resources management profession is perhaps the most challenging, diverse and varied of all management disciplines. As such, SAHRA places particular emphasis on program, informational and educational topics that are currently and timely issues of interest to members each year. While the emphasis of these topics differs from year to year in conjunction with changes in the profession, the underlying goals of the chapter remain the same, they are: • To allow a liberal and broad base of professionals whose interests involve, relate to, or serve the human resources management profession to become active members of the Association, and thereby contribute to its enhancement; • To foster an environment in which members can keep current on new and ongoing developments in the field of human resources management; • To seek collective and collaborative ways in which to overcome operational problems or exchange ideas of innovative and successful practices, programs and polices relating to human resources; • To provide a forum in which members can network among professional colleagues who share common interests, concerns and desires; • To encourage members to contribute to the advancement of the profession by community representation, preparing professional publications, teaching and providing internships and other learning opportunities; • To offer assistance to employers in the Sacramento region by conducting periodic educational programs; and • To participate in state and national affiliate associations to ensure that chapter interests are represented.

🌟 Yesterday’s webinar made one thing clear: employers can no longer afford to take a reactive approach to healthcare benefits. Rising costs are being driven by more than just claims. Provider consolidation, pharmacy spend, market instability, adverse selection, and limited transparency are all putting pressure on employer-sponsored health plans — and HR leaders are being asked to navigate it all. 💛 A huge thank you to Rosie Reiff and David C. Smith of Brown & Brown | Risk Strategies for breaking down the complexity and sharing practical insights around funding strategies, cost drivers, transparency, and the importance of long-term planning. 💡 A few key themes stood out: • Rising costs are being driven by multiple overlapping factors, not just a single issue • Employers need a longer-term strategy, not just reactive annual renewals • Transparency into claims data and financing options helps employers make more informed decisions • Preventive care, care navigation, and thoughtful plan design can play an important role in managing long-term costs The biggest takeaway? Employers have more options than they think — but strategy matters. And we’re not done yet. 📣 We’re continuing the conversation on May 20th with Part 2 of this series: Benefits as Strategy: How Leadership Teams Balance Cost, Culture & Retention. This in-person panel discussion will give HR professionals the opportunity to engage directly with regional benefits experts and explore what these trends mean for employers moving forward. As healthcare and total rewards costs continue to impact organizational budgets, HR leaders are navigating complex decisions at the intersection of employee experience and financial sustainability. Join us for a practical conversation on managing costs, strengthening cross-functional partnerships, and aligning benefits strategy with long-term organizational success. 🔗 Register: https://lnkd.in/emX2jSZF #SAHRA #HRLeadership #EmployeeBenefits #HealthcareCosts #HRCommunity
