𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 At RocketBloom Learning, we believe that clarity isn’t just nice to have. It’s non-negotiable. Every course we build starts with what learners need… and trims what they don’t. That means no fluff, no filler, and no burying the message under a mountain of jargon or clever wordplay. (Unless it actually helps learning. Then we might throw in a pun or two.) We design every word to serve the learning objectives. If it doesn’t move the learner forward, it doesn’t make the cut. Why? Because extra information that doesn’t support the goal isn’t just “extra...” it becomes cognitive noise. And that noise can drown out the signal. This value is deeply rooted in Cognitive Load Theory. When learners have to untangle vague language, guess what an acronym means, or sit through a "fun" interaction that doesn’t reinforce the learning, their brain is working harder, but not smarter. In this post, it’s time to get a little personal and talk about how RocketBloom Learning began. RocketBloom Learning was founded by Elizabeth Pressler… 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘮𝘦! 👋 I’ve worked in education, instructional design, and communication for well over 20 years, finally shifting to corporate instructional design in 2019. It just so happens that eLearning is where my passion for learning and my skills in writing, design, and project management became my professional special-sauce. But, as an instructional designer, I quickly noticed a trend whenever I told people what I did for a living. As soon as the word “eLearning” came out of my mouth, I was often met with groans, eyerolls, and comments like, “Oh, those boring courses I have to sit through? I never learn 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨!” Ouch! But also… Kind of fair? That planted a seed: What if I ran my own business with the primary goal of making training – especially eLearning – interesting, engaging, and fun? That seed grew for the better part of six years, finally blooming earlier this summer. 🌸 After taking yet another two-hour canned compliance course, I sat down to think of ways to make corporate learning better. Ideas, professional values, and my love of creating good eLearning took form. After two hours of furious, passion-fueled typing, I thought, “This could actually take off.” 🚀 I would start an instructional design business based on practices and values that lead to custom training and eLearning that 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘬. Instead, it would help people 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩. That’s when I started RocketBloom Learning. Though still unfurling its young leaves, this new venture is sprouting from decades of experience – and it’s being fed by passion, creativity, and sheer excitement.
