Two more reasons to be proud of the ALSO team. Fast Company has named the ALSO TM-B an honoree in Product Design and Transportation Design in its 2026 Innovation by Design Awards. With the TM-B, we set out to bring the seamless experience of the best electric vehicles to an e-bike. That meant thinking about design and technology together, from how the bike feels to ride to how it adapts to everyday life. We’re honored to see that approach recognized. Born out of Rivian. Building the world's best small EVs.
About us
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company on a mission to build the world’s best small vehicles for moving people and goods, driven and autonomous. Originally incubated within Rivian, we’re rethinking transportation from first principles to create a new generation of smaller, smarter, and more connected electric vehicles. Our team combines automotive rigor with advanced software, autonomy, sensing, and vertically integrated EV technologies to build products designed around the realities of modern mobility. We believe small vehicles are not a niche category, but a foundational shift in how people, goods, and communities will move through the world in the decades ahead. At ALSO, details matter. We’re builders, technologists, designers, and dreamers who care deeply about craft, innovation, and the everyday experiences our products create. Because movement is more than transportation—it’s connection, culture, freedom, and collective impact. We’re building that future now.

Chris Yu told me that ALSO., the micromobility company he spun out of Rivian in early 2025, builds purpose-built small EVs including the TM-B e-bike and TM-Q pedal-assist quad, on a vertically integrated, in-house stack. He targets denser metros and delivery fleets like Amazon and DoorDash on total cost of ownership, with an autonomy-first platform next. Born in South San Jose to Hong Kong immigrants, the son of an IBM engineer, he raced bikes and was Specialized Bicycle Components's CTO before Rivian. We’re proud to share that our flagship EV, the TM-B, has just won a Red Dot Design Award for Product Design 2026. The TM-B was designed to rethink what an electric bike can look, feel, and ride like. From its modular Top Frame system to the software-defined DreamRide unit, crafting the world’s best riding experience has been the driving force behind every design decision. We’re honored to see these decisions recognized and stand among some of the best product design in the world this year. Very fun to spend some time with GeekWire and even more fun to see them get some time on the ALSO. TM-B! There’s only so much you can understand about the difference of riding a TM-B from photo, videos or a spec sheet. You really have to ride it for yourself. And if you haven't booked your Test Spin yet, there's no time like the present... Thanks to GeekWire and Kurt Schlosser for coming by for a spin. We're excited to have more people getting their first rides in Seattle at our new evo pop-up, and across the nation with our awesome ALSO Market teams. https://lnkd.in/gbY66kKY https://lnkd.in/g8JQPwAU https://lnkd.in/gqXStaF6

ALSO 🤝 evo We’re excited to announce our partnership with evo, bringing the TM-B and the ALSO experience to select evo locations in Seattle, Denver, Portland, and Salt Lake City. With Test Spins in Seattle and Denver and in-store experiences in Portland and Salt Lake City, the partnership gives more riders a chance to get to know ALSO and experience the TM-B firsthand. Expanding our presence into the evo community is an exciting next step for ALSO as we work to bring Transcendent Mobility to more people and more places. We're excited to share that we've closed a $150 million Series D, led by Prysm Capital with participation from Eclipse, Greenoaks and MVP Ventures. This capital fast-tracks our autonomous vehicle platform, pushing forward multiple form factors for moving both people and goods, built on the same EV architecture behind our consumer electric bike, TM-B, and commercial electric delivery quad, TM-Q. Driven or autonomous, our goal to deliver well designed, intelligent small vehicles better suited for today's urban and suburban centers remains at the center of everything we do. Thank you to our partners for backing this next chapter. Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/gcRSRY3V #SeriesD #ElectricVehicles #Autonomous #Mobility #Micromobility

We’re making it easier to leave the car at home on matchdays. As the Official Bike Partner of Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Reign FC, we’re bringing free, secure, and staffed bike valet parking to every home match at Lumen Field. Every bike stashed is one fewer car circling for parking, one fewer car in traffic, and one more fan who just discovered the fastest and cheapest way to get to matches. Head to our blog to learn more about our partnership: https://lnkd.in/gmNJy3qE

Happy #NationalInternDay! We are working to build the world's best small vehicles to move people and goods, and this summer we brought on our very first intern class to help push that work forward. Across our hardware and software teams, 10 interns stepped in and made direct contributions to the TM-B, future vehicle programs, and the core technology behind them, working alongside our full-time engineers on critical milestones. To our inaugural group of 10, thank you for setting such a high bar and helping kick off this new chapter with us. We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make wherever your careers take you next. #TeamALSO #Internship #NationalInternDay

Our mission is to make the world’s best small vehicles, and that only happens on real streets, with real cities as partners. On July 23rd, our CEO Chris Yu joins Alicia John-Baptiste, San Francisco's Chief of Infrastructure, Climate & Mobility, for MobilitySF's "Small is Inevitable": a conversation on our small-vehicle thesis, what cities need from the companies building them, and how to make streets safer and better matched to the trips people are already taking. Come join us: https://luma.com/9y3x2eql 🗓️ Thursday, July 23rd ⏱️ 6:00 - 8:30 PM 📍 Rivian Hayes Valley | 340 Fell St, San Francisco
