Success at the plate isn't just about swinging harder; it's about hitting smarter. Our experts put together a white paper exploring hitting spin rate and how the spin of the ball off the bat can be a game-changer. It's more than just exit velocity and launch angle – spin rate is the next level. Here’s some insights you need to push your game further: • 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧: Hitting spin is different from pitching spin, and understanding yours is key. It's not about just more spin; it's about the right spin for the hit you want. • 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐭 𝐈𝐧: A midrange spin (1500-3500 RPMs) with backspin helps the ball travel further. But get this: the ideal spin shifts depending on your launch angle. • 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫: Hitters' hardest hits often had lower spin rates. It’s about squaring it up for maximum exit velocity. • 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Spin rate isn't just a number; it's an indicator of your contact quality and can help predict in-game success. Coaches, this is how you spot potential at tryouts. • 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞: Spin even affects your chances of extra bases! Fly balls with spin between 1000 and 3000 RPMs have a better shot at being doubles. Line drives up the middle? Lower spin might get you that single. Even ground balls with less top spin are more likely to be hits. • 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥: Comparing hits with similar exit velocity and launch angle but different spin rates can reveal who's closer to their peak power. It’s about finding your maximum exit velocity potential. This white paper shows athletes and coaches why spin rate matters and how analyzing it alongside exit velocity and launch angle gives you the complete picture. Ready to elevate your results at the plate?

To celebrate Rapsodo's Official Technology Ambassador returning to Japan, our Japan office brought the big leagues to the Tokyo Dome City with a pop-up batting cage powered by PRO 2.0. Fans enjoying the week at the MLB Tokyo Series stepped in, took their best swings, and measured their hitting data—using the same technology used by Shohei Ohtani. In addition to getting pro-level metrics, attendees also had the opportunity to collect one of three limited-edition Othtani x Rapsodo stickers. The popularity of baseball is booming in Japan and the data is no exception. From professional teams in the NPB to youth teams across the country, data is a universal language that everyone can understand.
