  • As simulation outputs, AI models and training datasets grow, traditional storage can’t keep up, driving higher costs, energy demands, and inefficiencies. Join our session at ISC High Performance to explore how next-gen archival strategies can turn this challenge into an advantage by freeing up higher performance storage, reducing power consumption, and creating a more sustainable, scalable data foundation. You all may have noticed that I post quite often about Quantum's highly resilient S3 Object Storage - ActiveScale. I just read this post from someone who runs ActiveScale in a multi-GEO deployment who ran into a major site issue that brought one of the 3 locations off line. First thought I had - I hope everyone at Pink Elephant is safe. Second thought was more about our platform doing what it is supposed to do... Site failure resiliency and never losing access to your data - The way an enterprise private cloud should be. Again - I hope everyone at Pink Elephant is safe and the recovery to the site is as painless as possible. And congrats on your overall design across multiple vendors who were able to perform as designed. Great job!

🔥 A Datacenter Caught Fire Today. Here's What Happened Next. At 9:30 this morning, my phone rang. It was Marijn de Vlieger asking: "Have you heard about the fire?" I hadn't. Within a minute, we shifted into incident mode. We started a Teams based crisis bridge with Pink Elephant and TrueFullstack (TFS) — one goal: understand what was burning and what it meant for our customers. Engineers, incident managers, and boardroom members in the same call to decide on the spot. Do we have active customer-facing services in that datacenter? Yes. One cluster of our S3 archive solution sits in that building. Evacuated… We couldn't even confirm whether the hardware was physically intact. And then... nothing broke. Our ActiveScale deployment is a 3-GEO distributed architecture by design. When one site is unreachable, the service keeps running as designed. Reads and writes uninterrupted, every byte recoverable. It didn't react to the incident. It absorbed it. Acting Before Things Got Worse Inside the crisis bridge we continued: what if we lose the datacenter entirely? Engineers from Pink Elephant and TFS got to work immediately. If needed we could reconfigure high-speed datacenter connectivity on the spot and reconfigure storage systems. Prepare to act while we still had the luxury of time. Two companies, one team, one goal. Neighbours by name, neighbours by nature — that's The Digital Neighborhood. Layers of Resilience Today is a reminder of why we've built a layered approach to data protection: Quantum ActiveScale: geo-distributed, sovereign Dutch S3 object storage. Multi-site redundancy is not optional. Today proved it. NetApp StorageGRID: seamless offsite backup for NetApp customers. Deploy a Console agent in your datacenter, point it at our StorageGRID grid, and go! Commvault: for customers who need a fully managed backup strategy. Primary recovery from StorageGRID, long-term archive to ActiveScale cold storage. One solution, full coverage. Pink Cloud DR: NIS2 doesn't just ask if you have a DR plan, it requires you to prove it works. We guide customers through defining, building and repeatedly testing their strategy. Because an untested DR plan is just a document. What Today Was Really About Resilience is easy to talk about. It's harder to feel confident about when smoke is rising from a building that holds your data. Today I'm grateful for the colleagues who turned a potential crisis into a coordinated response. And grateful that the architecture decisions we've made over the years meant we did not have to call a customer to deliver bad news. If you're a CTO, IT Manager, or infrastructure architect wondering whether your DR strategy would hold up today — I'm genuinely happy to kickstart that conversation. Stay resilient. 🛡️ #DataProtection #DisasterRecovery #NIS2 #CloudInfrastructure #Resilience #PinkElephantNL #TrueFullstack #TheDigitalNeighborhood #QuantumActiveScale #NetApp #Commvault #DataSovereignty
