  • Please take a moment and let this picture and Jen's words really sink in. Jen and her three kids came through a Project Sanctuary retreat in 2008. Yes, we have been proudly serving and supporting Gold Star and Families of the Fallen from day one. And we keep serving our families long after their retreat. We hae been honored to be a part of Jen's family story for 18 years. I still remember Baby Keegan.... and to now see a beautful and smart, accomplished young lady in her graduation dress, celebrating with her Dad, brings all the emotions. Jen, WELL DONE in raising 3 amazing young adults and thank YOU for choosing Project Sanctuary and our families to share your gifts, talents and passion with.

Memorial Day this year was particularly meaningful. My youngest, who was born just months after her father was killed in a helicopter crash, graduated from high school. There has been a constant correlation between her life, and his death. While she didn’t grow up living the traditional military family lifestyle, she has lived her entire life in full understanding of the meaning of sacrifice. As a mother, I’m proud of her and the next steps she’s taking on her academic journey. As a gold star spouse, I mourn that Cesar isn’t here to celebrate with her. Professionally, I’m honored to continue to serve our military and first responder families each day, knowing first hand the sacrifices those families make. Pause. Remember. Then find a way to make an impact.

  • The wait is over! We are thrilled to announce our 2025 Volunteer of the Year! In 2020, we said goodbye to a beloved friend and Project Sanctuary’s longest-serving board member, Rand Case. To honor his incredible legacy of service and heart, we created the Rand Case Volunteer of the Year Award—an award that celebrates those who truly embody our mission, recognize the deep needs of our military families, and give of themselves with unwavering dedication. Nominated by our staff and board, this year’s honor goes to extraordinary volunteers who have made a lasting impact: Jill and Alvin Mondragon! “From the very beginning, Alvin and Jill have shown an incredible level of heart and commitment, always stepping in, giving generously, and lifting up everyone around them. Their impact on our families and team has been truly special, and we’re so grateful that their journey has grown from retreat participants to volunteers with us,” said Missy Hyatt, Chief Programs Officer.
