We’re heading to Italy for Cartoons on the Bay 🇮🇹 On May 29, Franciszek Rzepka, Lead Animator at Platige Image, will join the festival’s program to talk about facial #animation and building believable performances in the #SecretLevel “Crossfire: Good Conflict” episode. Franciszek has worked on projects including cinematic trailers for The Witcher 4, Dying Light 2, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, multiple Call of Duty titles, and Amazon Prime’s Secret Level – Crossfire. Alongside production work at Platige, he also teaches #3D Animation at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology. #ThrowbackThursday to one of the strangest and most rewarding stories we’ve had the chance to tell 🎬📖 Five years ago, together with Capcom, we created the #cinematic opening and ending for Resident Evil Village, directed by Jakub Jablonski – a dark #fairytale built from paper cutouts and shadow theatre. Instead of motion capture, the animation was keyframed to recreate the feeling of traditional shadow play. Our artists explored new approaches to textures, shaders, lighting, and compositing to give the film its layered papier-mâché look.
