🌞 PHOENIX at Dag van de Wetenschap 2025! 🌱 Yesterday, our PHOENIX HEU coordination team had the pleasure of meeting a wonderfully diverse audience at Hasselt University, from curious young minds to enthusiastic adults. We were delighted to see strong public interest in PHOENIX’s goals, particularly our efforts to convert CO₂ into propanol and to upcycle waste PET plastics into glycolic acid using solar-driven technologies. Sharing how solar-to-molecules research is evolving in Europe and how PHOENIX contributes to the EU’s climate and circular-economy ambitions was truly inspiring. Visitors asked a wide range of thoughtful questions, including the future of the hydrogen economy, potential applications of renewable fuels, whether PHOENIX technologies can be extended to other plastics, and how project resources are allocated. Their curiosity reaffirmed the importance of involving society in scientific innovation. Science progresses when everyone can participate, question, and contribute. We were excited to exchange ideas, hear different perspectives, and share a small token of appreciation—sunflower seeds, symbolizing growth and renewable energy 🌻.
