“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day.” – Brené Brown Does this quote resonate with you? 🤔 Being authentic at work—or anywhere—doesn’t just happen. We are constantly trying to figure out where we fit in the larger picture: Who’s in charge? What are the rules? How should I act? Psychologists call this STATUS MANAGEMENT. It makes sense. We don’t want to be rejected—and even more than that, we don’t want our TRUE SELVES to be rejected. So we wear masks. 🎭 But while we’re preoccupied with comparison and perception, we drain valuable cognitive resources and emotional energy. BUT, if we can let go of constant comparison and competition, it becomes much easier to show up AUTHENTICALLY. Of course, letting go takes effort. That’s why Brené Brown suggests authenticity is a choice we make every day. It’s built through small, DAILY DECISIONS: choosing honesty over pretense, curiosity over judgment, and courage over comfort. 💡 Showing up as your REAL SELF can feel risky at times. But it’s also what builds trust, strengthens relationships, and allows your unique perspective to truly make an impact. And when one person chooses authenticity, it often gives others permission to do the same. 🌱 So here’s a small reflection for today: What choice will YOU make to let your true self be seen? 📖 Quote by Brené Brown 🎨 Image via Dare to Lead / Brené Brown

💬 Giving feedback shouldn’t feel this hard… but it often does. In her review of Radical Candor, Annette Logan-Parker explores a key challenge: 👉 What feels “direct” to one person can feel harsh to another. The idea—care personally + challenge directly—makes sense. But real teams are complex, and one approach doesn’t fit all. 📖 In this Harvard Business Review piece, she breaks down what leaders need to do differently to give feedback that actually works. 👉 Read it and rethink how you lead conversations. https://lnkd.in/e8QDxvKp

  • Being AUTHENTIC in the workplace means bringing your true self to the table and allowing your unique perspectives, skills, and experiences to shine. It’s about being genuine, honest, and unapologetically YOU. ✨    There are two sides to the importance of embracing authenticity. First, not having to wear a mask benefits you: You can let go and devote less of your cognitive energy to appearances and more to the ACTUAL WORK of your role. It reduces stress and lowers the likelihood of burnout. 💡    Second, it benefits your team and the organization as a whole. You may be more productive, but you also help others feel comfortable being who they are. Especially if you’re a manager, bringing your true self to work can help foster a culture of TRUST, innovation, and collaboration. 🤝    Yes, it can be hard. How you express your real self cannot come at the cost of being unprofessional or not adapting to your organization’s culture and expectations. But the effort of finding that balance is WORTH IT. Embrace your quirks, be vulnerable, share your perspective, and celebrate the joy of differences and diversity. 🌱    Want to learn more about AUTHENTICITY and its role in your career journey? Great leaders are great coaches, and great coaches ask great questions. In  THE COACHING HABIT, 📚Michael Bungay Stanier (aka MBS) proposes seven essential questions to help leaders inspire, challenge, and unlock the full potential of their teams. These are: 🔹 The Kickstart Question: Start meaningful conversations. 🔹 The Awe Question: Keep people curious and engaged. 🔹 The Lazy Question: Save time and focus on what matters. 🔹 The Strategic Question: Prioritize key issues. 🔹 The Focus Question: Get to the heart of the problem. 🔹 The Foundation Question: Build understanding. 🔹 The Learning Question: Ensure mutual growth. MBS argues that by saying less and asking more, leaders can cultivate a coaching culture that produces outstanding results.
