    Cracking the $160B Cross-Border Payments Market: Lessons from Palla Financial We recently spoke with Enrique Perezalonso CEO of Palla Financial, about building embedded cross-border payments by flipping the traditional distribution model. Here are the key go-to-market lessons from their journey: → Attack the other side of two-sided markets. While competitors burned cash acquiring US senders, Palla partnered with recipient-side banks in Latin America for superior economics and positioning. → Target buyers with failed build attempts. A banking group returned after four years of trying to build internally - previous failures signal deep problem understanding and partnership readiness. → Embedded distribution isn't free. Palla shifted from "soft touch" best practices to consultative implementation. There's no such thing as "no CAC" without massive partner enablement investment. → Rebuild your product with customers in real-time. The product they launched bears little resemblance to their original vision. They threw away their roadmap to build hand-in-hand with bank partners. → Say no to everything adjacent. Limiting to 2-3 products in cross-border payments created their moat. Maintaining focus when growth creates opportunities is harder than focus when struggling. These insights from Palla Financial show how inverting distribution models and committing to extreme focus can unlock new categories in complex markets.
