Introducing: The HiFi Yield Leaderboard 🏁 We have highlighted high performers, and now we are making it a competition. Every three months we will be spotlighting the labs putting up the biggest HiFi numbers. Q1 is officially in. Princeton University Genomics Core Facility is leading the pack with 181 Gb of HiFi yield on Revio. Congrats to the team for setting an impressive pace of high-performing runs! Our next winner will be announced at the end of June and we cannot wait to see what kind of amazing work our community will produce. #PacBio #HiFisequencing #PrincetonUniversity #Q1Leaderboard

Long-read sequencing is reshaping how we study genomes, but what actually sets it apart? Think of it as the difference between reconstructing a 500-page novel from tiny, fragmented snippets versus using long runs of text that encompass entire paragraphs. Those longer "reads" provide the contextual information needed to place everything in the correct order, closing gaps and reducing errors that short-read methods often miss. If you’re looking for a clear, foundational overview (including how HiFi sequencing achieves 99.9% accuracy), this is a great place to start. 🔬 Explore the full breakdown: https://bit.ly/3PB0xLr #PacBio #HiFisequencing #LongReadSequencing #Genomics

Long-read sequencing is reshaping our understanding of human genetic variation, especially for structural variants that are difficult to resolve with short-read data. Join Dr. Michael Schatz from Johns Hopkins University for an ASHG Digital CoLab webinar as he highlights how PacBio HiFi whole genome sequencing is being applied across diverse populations. Drawing on insights from the All of Us initiative, he will unpack how long-read WGS uncovers previously hidden variants and evaluate their contribution to disease associations in GWAS and phenome-wide analyses. Register to learn how joint SNV and SV sets from long-read data are influencing discovery at scale and the growing importance of variant frequency resources in biobanks and clinical genomics. Sequencing in 2026: repeats → resolvable methylation → built in SVs → at scale AI → shaping discovery The work is more interesting than ever. These three interviews tap some of the sharpest minds in sequencing to tell us about the four-year problems solved in days, the edge cases people choose to chase, and results they never expected. Beyond the Bench season one is almost over. Stream the interviews while you still can: https://bit.ly/3KGNKVu #BeyondTheBench #PacBio #HiFisequencing

Successful AI models are built on data that is high-quality, complete, and rich in biological context. Basecamp Research is using PacBio HiFi sequencing to support its Trillion Gene Atlas initiative, an effort to dramatically expand access to evolutionary genetic diversity. By generating environmental and host-associated metagenomic data on the Revio system, they are building a richer map of biology that AI can learn from. Rather than learning on fragmented genetic snapshots, these foundation models are being trained on data that retains the broader structure of genomes. This high-resolution genomic analysis helps unlock insights that may otherwise remain hidden, accelerating the path from discovery to therapeutic application.
