After taking a short break over the holidays, it’s time to get started leading another group at OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center! When I moved to LA in 2023, I began searching for ways to get involved in the community. I found myself missing the clinical work I’d done earlier in my career. And then I came across Our House. They offered a grief certification course, with ongoing clinical supervision to volunteers who wanted to lead one of their grief support groups. Volunteering at OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center has been an honor. Last year I co-led a group for people whose partner or spouse died. I witnessed the deep pain of grief coupled with the immensity of secondary losses, and how finding your circle of peers can be a lifeline. This year, I’ll be co-leading a group for people whose parent or sibling died. This group: 💚Is for people whose loved one died within the past year 💛Meets every other week in person (virtual groups are available if preferred) 💜Lasts for a duration of 18 sessions I’m grateful for this opportunity to continue to learn from the staff at Our House and to further the conversation about grief and loss, so that no one has to grieve alone. For anyone who wants to contribute to the LA community, Our House is currently accepting applications for volunteer group leaders. You don’t have to be a clinician, just someone willing to listen and learn. More info at www.ourhouse-grief.org #grief #GriefSupport #volunteer

  • It's official: applications are OPEN for Camp Erin LA this summer! ☀️ Camp Erin LA is a free day camp for children, teens, and their parents/guardians who are grieving the death of someone close. We combine traditional camp experiences (think rock climbing, water sports, hiking, arts & crafts, etc.) with meaningful grief support activities to provide an unforgettable day of hope, healing, and summer fun. Please share with your community and anyone who would be interested! The application can be found in both English and Spanish here: https://lnkd.in/gurDHtuu WHEN We are hosting two separate day-long camp sessions this year. Choose between Saturday, August 24 or Sunday, August 25. WHERE Camp Erin LA is held at Camp Bob Waldorf located in Glendale, California. WHY For many kids and teens, Camp Erin LA is the first time they’re able to discuss their grief without shame or stigma. It’s an opportunity for their grief to be seen, supported, and honored in a comforting and uplifting space amongst peers. #grief #griefcamp #bereavement #griefsupport
