She asked industry experts for examples of effective, limited-time offers at their venues. Chris shared about this winter’s Tableside Martini Service — a self-pour experience that encouraged guests to experiment with a mix of spirits and sides at Castell Rooftop Lounge/AC Hotel Times Square. Muscle meets muse in The Johnson Collection’s upcoming exhibition. 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 opens this Wednesday, April 16, and runs through June 21 at TJC Gallery in downtown Spartanburg. Art and athletics are twin expressions of human excellence, each requiring creativity, elegance, and mastery of form. Just as artists harness line, color, and composition to convey emotion and energy, athletes use their bodies to create moments of strength, grace, and precision. 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒕𝒉𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 celebrates the artistry inherent in athleticism and showcases the many dynamic connections between art and sport. His job in high school, mostly manual labor, provided more than folding money for a teenage 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐠𝐨 𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐲 — it gave him a solid work ethic that still pays dividends today. The work wasn’t glamorous but, at 16 years old, Virgo says he was happy to do whatever it took to put some cash in his pocket. So he mopped floors, cleaned bathrooms, and took out the trash. What’s more, he learned early on the satisfaction of a job well done. “It was a great first experience,” says Virgo: ✔️“It gave me an appreciation for hard work.” ✔️“It taught me that every person can make a positive impact.” ✔️“It sparked my motivation to be an asset, wherever I am.” That motivation has carried him in good stead ever since. Virgo got his start in hospitality more than a quarter-century ago, working nights as a security guard at the Sanctuary Beach Resort in his hometown of Marina, California. There — thanks to talent, determination, and attention to detail — he progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, ultimately serving many years as the property’s Chief Engineer. He was recruited by OTO in July 2018, serving first as Director of Operations at 𝐀𝐂 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨 and earning a recent promotion to Assistant General Manager. Volunteerism works!   Our corporate hometown is stronger because of the many local nonprofits whose missions range from human services to education to the arts and beyond. We encourage community service across our family of companies, so we hosted a two-day expo to connect team members to the causes they care about most.    Twenty-three nonprofit organizations participated, showcasing their impact and suggesting meaningful ways for us to get involved. We have some 𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘺 news to share! The Johnson Collection’s newest exhibition ~ 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 ~ is open now through April 4 at TJC Gallery in downtown Spartanburg. Historically, size has mattered in art. The scale of a work when seen in person can be an essential ingredient in its visual impact. Against this grain, TJC’s current show celebrates the wondrous world of 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 art — in this case, paintings of no more than 20 inches.
