Advancing health equity starts with ensuring clinicians have access to the right information at the right time, no matter where care is delivered. Our collaboration with the University of Illinois Chicago for the Community Health Advocacy Program has research focused on improving information access for those who need care, especially in rural and underserved communities. One of these innovative research projects is developing a 1-Search system to give health care professionals fast, reliable access to critical care‑related information at the point of need to close information gaps across interprofessional teams and support timely, well‑informed decision‑making. The ultimate goal is to enable clinicians to answer clinical questions within minutes, improving care quality and advancing health equity. How do surgeons prepare for the most complex congenital heart procedures? Through a Jump ARCHES grant, OSF HealthCare is partnering with University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria to advance surgical planning using virtual reality. This work combines VR and machine learning to create detailed, patient-specific 3D models – helping surgeons better analyze anatomy, refine decisions and improve outcomes. By studying how expert and novice surgeons approach these cases, the team aims to strengthen decision-making, enhance preparation and elevate care for patients with congenital heart conditions. 🔗 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3OF7zi4

What happens when future engineers take on real health care challenges? At Illinois State University, first-year students are already doing just that. During the inaugural Engineering Design Project Symposium, student teams tackled real-world problems – including a challenge from OSF HealthCare to improve the MotoVida emergency-response ATV for use in remote and high-risk environments. From lighting to storage to patient transport, these ideas have the potential to strengthen care where it’s needed most. It’s a powerful example of what can happen when education and health care come together to solve real problems. 🔗 Read more: https://bit.ly/4dtc8p2

One of our roles at OSF Innovation is exploring and piloting emerging technologies and companies that have the potential to improve care for the patients we serve. Apreo Health is one such clinical-stage medical device company dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with severe emphysema. The Apreo Airway Scaffold is a novel implant designed to gently release air trapped in hyper-inflated lungs caused by emphysema. The technology is currently being evaluated by OSF HealthCare through clinical trials.
We are thrilled to share our latest press release announcing significant clinical and corporate milestones for our novel, implantable, BREATHE Airway Scaffold technology. As we continue to advance our mission, the BREATHE-3 clinical trial remains a cornerstone of our efforts to transform patient care. 📣 Building on this momentum, our team is heading to Orlando for ATS 2026! We are looking forward to connecting with the pulmonary and critical care community to discuss our recent progress and the future of respiratory innovation. If you are attending, let’s connect—We’d love to share more about our clinical journey and the incredible work being done by our partner institutions. See you in Orlando! ☀️ https://lnkd.in/gyTv5cAU #ATS2026 #MedicalDevices #ClinicalTrials #Pulmonology #RespiratoryHealth #MedTech #Innovation
