Fighting for the Rights of All Professional Truckers Since 1973.

About us

Since 1973, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association has been fighting for the rights of all professional truckers. We are proud of our history of effective representation, and as we grow, we will continue to fight for our members’ best interests in new and more powerful ways. Please follow the links below for a journey along a timeline of Association accomplishments, and you will see that OOIDA has made great strides during the 50+ years. We believe the biggest accomplishments are those yet to come, so if you haven’t yet joined OOIDA, there’s no time like the present to unite with members working to give all professional truckers a voice!

Truck parking has been a crisis for far too long. The new Highway Bill includes $750 million dedicated to expanding truck parking nationwide, a major win for the men and women who keep America moving. This is the kind of investment truckers have been fighting for. 🚛🇺🇸

A huge victory for our professional truckers 🇺🇸 The BUILD America 250 Act is moving forward, and many of the priorities OOIDA fought for are included in this historic highway bill. This is what strong advocacy and truckers standing together can accomplish. 💪🚛

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, OOIDA honors and remembers the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸 While many gather with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that made our freedoms possible. From America’s highways to hometowns across the country, we remember and we are grateful.🚛

Today was a great first step in the fight to get the most pro-trucker highway bill in recent history across the finish line. 🏁 We are so grateful for every member who called their lawmakers and helped make our voices heard! We have a long road ahead of us but with this first step we are on our way! 🚛🇺🇸

The Build America 250 Act (Highway Bill) is more than legislation. It’s proof that when truckers stand together, our voices are heard. Seeing key priorities reflected in this bill is a monumental step forward for the industry. This is the most pro-trucker Highway Bill we have seen in years. The work isn’t finished, but this moment matters. And we’re proud to have helped push the conversation forward for the people who keep America moving. Learn more LandLine.Media

🚛 BROKER BREAKDOWN: PT. 4 🚛 As conversations continue across the industry around safety, fraud and accountability, many truckers are asking whether everybody involved in moving freight is being held to the same standard. OOIDA has long supported stronger transparency, safer highways and responsible business practices throughout the supply chain. That includes making sure FMCSA, DOT, brokers, carriers and everyone involved in moving freight are doing their part. Hear more from EVP, Lewie Pugh on why these conversations matter and why accountability across the industry will be important moving forward.

For too long, truckers have had decisions made for them by people who’ve never lived the job. OOIDA has spent decades making sure truckers aren’t just talked about in Washington, but that they’re represented. We’re proud to see our EVP Lewie Pugh recognized by Rep. David Rouzer for his work advocating on behalf of America’s small-business truckers. Every time Lewie steps into Congress or meets with lawmakers, he brings real-world trucking experience and the voice of the men and women who keep America moving. Thank you, Lewie, for representing truckers with pride, grit and authenticity. And thank you to Rep. Rouzer and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for recognizing the importance of America’s trucking professionals and their impact on the US economy. https://lnkd.in/gnKVefXB #OOIDA #TruckersForTruckers #Trucking #Advocacy

🚛 BROKER BREAKDOWN: PT. 3 🚛 Before you sign it… read it. 👀 Too many carriers are signing broker-carrier agreements without fully understanding what they’re agreeing to. We talk about the importance of slowing down, reviewing contracts carefully, and protecting your business before problems happen. Need help understanding an agreement? OOIDA is a resource drivers can use to help review contracts and know exactly what they’re signing. Stay tuned for more.

🚛 BROKER BREAKDOWN: PT. 2 🚛 “Broker Transparency is not overreach. It’s common sense.” Why are carriers being asked to waive rights they legally have? 👀 We break down broker transparency, the 3713 waiver, and why more drivers are starting to ask questions about what’s really happening behind the scenes. This conversation is bigger than freight. It’s about fairness, accountability, and protecting the people actually moving the load. Stay tuned for more.
